Transgender youth deserve to grow up supported, affirmed, and able to access the healthcare they need. Gender-affirming care is supported by decades of research and every major U.S. medical association, and is linked to better mental health outcomes and lower rates of depression and suicidality. Families and providers deserve trust, privacy, and the freedom to make healthcare decisions without political interference.

Fenway Health’s Sean Cahill, Co-Chair of Project ABLE (AIDS Budget Legislative Effort) (center, with hat) joined Project ABLE Co-Chair Gary Daffin of the Multicultural AIDS Coalition (left), Project ABLE Lobbyist Mary Ann Hart (to right of Cahill) and Carla Norris of AIDS Project Worcester (far right) to meet with leaders at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health about infectious disease funding on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

The group met with DPH Commissioner Robbie Goldstein and Linda Goldman, Director of the Office of HIV/AIDS. They discussed funding for the state FY27 budget, the impact of cuts on our clients and patients, and the need for continued state support given draconian cuts proposed by federal leaders to the Centers for Disease Control and HIV housing programs (HOPWA), and the rise in HIV and STI diagnoses in the state in recent years.
