Over the past 15 days, more than 300 members of our Connecticut National Guard have said goodbye to their children, spouses, partners, siblings, friends, and parents as they embark on another “trip around the world” to serve our country. This story isn’t unique to Connecticut — it’s happening across the nation — but this one hits close to home.

Many of these men and women are friends and family, part of a Battalion that was once our home not too long ago, only changed due to a promotion. The reality that I could easily be in their shoes, by no way is lost on me.

Please know you are not alone and resources are available for both families and service members.

Quote Remedy hit my Monday off strong with such a powerful post! This is so true, Allow your feelings, express them and let them be released, but don’t forget your path forward, no matter how many times it may need to be adjusted.

Don't forget that you're human. It's okay to have melt down. Just don't unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you are headed.

🌿 Mental health check-in
We often get caught up in the day-to-day and forget to pause and reflect. So here’s a question for you today:

💭 What do you need more of in your life right now?

Whether it’s rest, connection, laughter, boundaries, or simply quiet moments to breathe—naming it is the first step toward creating it.

Share below—your answer might inspire someone else to reflect on their own needs.

This has been one of my longtime favorites, and I keep it tucked away as a gentle reminder: no matter what we go through, we can still rise above. 🌿

Everyone has a story—and we don’t always know what someone else is carrying. Just because your story has rough chapters doesn’t give us permission to take it out on the world around us. The person next to you might be fighting their own battles, too.

Be strong enough to lead with kindness. 💛 Let your experiences shape you, not harden you. Remember your story, and choose to show the world the same gentleness and grace you hope to receive.

Perception is personal. Each of us views the world through a lens shaped by our thought patterns, beliefs, past experiences, traumas, and conditioning. While everyone is entitled to their own perspective, it’s important to recognize how our own perception—along with our body language, tone, and facial expressions—can shape the message we send, the responses we receive, and the experiences we create.

Communication is the foundation of every type of relationship—whether interpersonal, professional, romantic, or familial. By taking intentional steps to understand your communication style, your audience, and their unique “filters” of perception, you can reduce misunderstandings, prevent unnecessary conflict, and challenge biases.

One simple yet powerful tool is to check in with your audience. Ask them to share what they heard compared to what you intended to say. Try saying:
“When I said [blank], what did you hear me saying?”

I challenge you to practice this with someone you trust. Approach the conversation with openness, listen to their perception, and explore how they arrived at that message. Over time, these small steps can strengthen your communication skills and build stronger, healthier connections.

If you are still struggling with communication or your relationships, get the one-on-one support you deserve. Call New Hope Therapy at (203) 794-4721 to schedule your in-person or telehealth appointment today.

No matter what role you hold in life—parent, partner, caregiver, or beyond—remember that you matter. It’s essential to step outside of those roles and reclaim time just for yourself. Your identity existed long before these responsibilities, and you are more than the titles you carry.

Reconnect with what truly lights you up: the activities that make you smile, the moments that bring calm to your chaos, and the experiences that remind you who you are at your core. Prioritizing yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary for your well-being and for the energy you bring to every role you fulfill.

Starting your day with yoga can be one of the best ways to support your mental health. 🌞🧘‍♀️

Taking a few quiet moments in the morning to ground yourself, focus on your breath, and gently move your body can help you feel more centered, calm, and clear-headed. It’s not just about flexibility—it’s about creating space to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and restore balance before the day gets busy.

Even just 10–15 minutes can make a big difference. It’s a small act of self-care with a big impact. 💛

🌊 Taking a few days off at the beach this week — not for the ‘gram, not to check off a to-do list, but for me. 🐚☀️

Self-care isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. Just like our phones need to be recharged, so do we. Stepping away from the routine, even briefly, gives us space to reset our minds, refill our emotional cups, and restore balance in our lives.

Making time to care for yourself isn’t indulgent — it’s responsible. When we prioritize our own well-being, we show up better for everything and everyone else around us. Whether it’s a beach trip, a quiet walk, or a moment of stillness — give yourself permission to pause.

Are you facing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other unpleasant symptoms? The brain's incredible ability to rewire and adapt can be leveraged to overcome adversity. While traditional therapy may pose challenges, even for EMDR, Low Energy Neurofeedback Systems (LENS) offers a promising alternative. This cutting-edge approach employs low-frequency electronic impulses to gently stimulate the brain, promoting profound transformation. Clients have reported remarkable progress, including decreased anxiety and reactivity, reduced depression, and enhanced clarity, often within a few sessions.
