Office Update: Sunday March 22, 2019
The coronavirus pandemic is a rapidly evolving situation. In close coordination with the state and local public health experts, we are closely monitoring developments and will continue to follow their rules and recommendations in the best interest of our patients and employees safety and well-being.
The Governor has released an Executive Order which will be going into effect on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 5:00 pm to limit all non-essential services in outpatient medical practices. In compliance with the Executive Order, we will begin to transition many existing appointments to TeleMedicine or VideoMedicine (E-Visits) in keeping the health and safety of our patients our top most priority.
Several visits may need to be postponed in view of the current pandemic and situation we are all facing. We truly apologize for this inconvenience and will prioritize scheduling of all patients as rapidly as possible when the restrictions from the state are lifted.
In reviewing the wording of the Executive Order by the Governor, all non-essential treatments will not be able to continue. This may pose an inconvenience to our patients on allergy shots for environmental allergens, bee venom as well as biological injections for asthma and hives. We will try and accommodate patients and their shots with a modified schedule for obtaining injections at our office. Please check our website and FaceBook page for up-to-date hours for injections. We ask patients to wait in their vehicles after their injections for the recommended wait times rather than in the office for safety reasons. PatientÅ› will need to be screened prior to their injection and limited to one patient in the waiting room and one patient in the hallway. Other patients may need to remain in their vehicles to keep appropriate social distancing.
Any patientÅ› with known exposure to anyone with Covid-19 or suspected Covid-19 will need to self quarantine and refrain from continuation of injections for 14 days. Individuals with or in close contact with anyone experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, chest pain or congestion will need to refrain from continuation of shots for at least 14 days.
All affected patientÅ› will be able to catch up on their shots when it is safe to do so. We will also prioritize patient appointments as soon as we are able to, when the restrictions are lifted by our Governor.
This is truly an unprecedented time and it is vital to keep everyone's health and safety in mind.
In view of this, we will make the following adjustments as outlined above:
Telemedicine (VideoVisits) and start E-Visits with a secure HIPPA compliant software during the weekdays
- This will be for well visits and applicable visits that can be completed by video visits and possibly for new visits
We will need to postpone food challenges and routine visits for now
- We will prioritize and reschedule patients scheduled as soon as the mandated restrictions have been lifted by state officials
Allergy and Biological Injections will be available at an adjusted schedule with more limited hours if patients meet criteria outlined above and are asymptomatic and not in contact with any individuals with suspected illness(es)
If patients elect to postpone shots until restrictions are lifted, we will be able to catch patients up in the future
- Depending on the situation with Covid-19, further restrictions may lead to complete closure of the office dependent on further state recommendations and availability of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, etc.
We will be available with adjusted hours for Telephone and Video Visits to continue to provide care and assist in refills and questions for our patients during this time
Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused to everyone. We are trying our best to keep our patients, their families and our staff healthy and safe. As the situation improves, we will return to a normal schedule and will likely increase our office times and availability to make up for the appointments that had to be rescheduled.
Please be safe and remain healthy and well during this difficult time.
Dr. Doshi and the entire staff at the Allergy, Asthma and Pulmonary Center
