Our clients look forward to Show & Grow each week! What may look like a simple TV show is actually a great opportunity to work on important skills across Speech, ABA, and OT. During this time, we work on things like:

✨ Sitting and attending
✨ Using an appropriate voice volume
✨ Trying new foods (popcorn is a favorite!)
✨ Requesting and communicating
✨ Following directions
✨ Engaging with peers

Our staff loves creating fun, meaningful learning opportunities like this for our kids. We believe therapy should be engaging, purposeful, and tailored to each child, meeting them where they are and helping them grow in ways that feel natural and enjoyable!

Join in the fun, get creative, and celebrate the joy of reading with us! Each day, we’ll aim to read at least one Dr. Seuss book, either individually or as a group, celebrating his lasting impact on education and the excitement his stories continue to bring to readers of all ages.

Meet Jetson, our most loyal team member and Therapy Dog Candidate in training! Jetson comes to work each day with a wagging tail and the sweetest heart. As he works toward becoming a certified therapy dog for our office, he continues to impress us with his calm nature and gentle spirit.

❄️ Just a heads up for our families ❄️

Tomorrow (2/2), our therapy office will be operating on a half-day schedule and we’ll begin seeing clients at 1:00pm. We truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility, especially with the snow days we’ve had over the past couple of weeks. We hope you had a warm, safe, and enjoyable time in the snow yesterday!

⭐ Attention Families and Caregivers ⭐

To ensure road conditions are safe for our families and staff, we will be operating on a half-day schedule tomorrow (1/27).

We will begin seeing afternoon clients starting at 1:00pm. This allows us to prioritize safety while still providing therapy services as weather conditions improve. We’ve been having circle time more often and have introduced new client goals to better support participation and help our kids fully enjoy the experience. We’ve danced more, played more, and shared more belly laughs in the past few weeks than we have in a long time, and we’re so grateful to have made this a weekly tradition that our children genuinely look forward to.

A huge thank you to Jean Davison, a retired occupational therapist and Founder of Connections for Special Parents, for generously spending time with our children and staff and for the joy and energy she brings to circle time. 💛

🌟 Important Announcement 🌟

We are excited to share that we are now offering pediatric counseling services for children and adolescents ages 18 and under. This is a meaningful step for our community because so few providers in our area offer these services, and we are grateful to help fill that gap.

We are currently accepting Medicaid (Amerigroup, Peach State, and CareSource) as well as self-pay.

If you would like your child to be added to our waitlist, please call 706-491-5409 to speak with our office manager. We have begun scheduling from the waitlist this week!

Our office will be closed this Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day. Therapy services will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.

As we reflect on the past year, we are incredibly grateful for the growth we’ve experienced and the progress made by the children and families we serve. This year brought meaningful milestones, new opportunities, and expansion at Shining Star, all made possible by the trust, dedication, and collaboration of those we work with.

We look forward to building on this momentum in the new year and are excited for what 2026 has in store. Thank you for being part of Shining Star’s journey. 🤩

In celebration of Christmas, our therapy office will be closed on December 24th and December 25th. Therapy services will resume as normal on December 29th.

🏀Basketball 🏀season is not quite over but we are already gearing up for our next sport!

Cornhole🎯 will be our next sporting event!! Due to the limited number of boards and space, we will be limiting the number of participants.

As a reminder to our families, all therapies will be held as scheduled today (11/24) and tomorrow (11/25). We will be closed for the remainder of the week so our clients and staff can enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. Therapy will resume on December 1st, just in time for the start of the Christmas season!
