We’re welcoming a new chapter in leadership at Rumford Hospital. 💙

Kari Paradis, RN is now serving as Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care at Rumford Hospital. Her focus in this role includes supporting safe, consistent care and strengthening the day-to-day operations that matter most to patients and staff.

As Kari takes on this role at Rumford, we extend our sincere thanks to her predecessor, Jenifer Madore, NP, for her leadership. Jen’s commitment to patients, staff, and the Rumford community has made a lasting impact, and we wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement. 💐

Flu season is here, and we’re seeing high levels of flu illness in our community. A few small steps can help keep you, your loved ones, and our community healthy:

• Get a flu shot (it’s not too late)
• Stay home and rest when you’re feeling sick to help prevent spreading illness
• Wear a mask if you’re experiencing symptoms and need to be around others
• Wash hands and cover coughs and sneezes—simple steps that truly work

Every little bit helps. And when you need care, we’re here for you—always.

💙 Pete’s Story 💙

Pete is the kind of Mainer who usually brushes things off. But when chest pressure didn’t ease one morning, he trusted his instincts and came to Rumford Hospital. Within moments, the Emergency Department team knew exactly what was happening — Pete was having a heart attack, one that could have taken his life without a second chance.

Because of swift action, expert care, and months of cardiac rehabilitation, Pete survived — and came back stronger. Today, he’s back to what matters most: time with his wife Nancy, his kids, and his grandkids, and the everyday moments he once feared he might never see again.

Some people make a difference without ever seeking the spotlight. Marlene Jones, from our Environmental Services team, is one of them, and we’re proud to recognize her as the latest Sunshine Award recipient.

Marlene brings pride, consistency, and care to everything she does. She treats every space with respect and helps create an environment that feels calm, safe, and welcoming for patients and staff alike. The impact of her work is felt far beyond her daily tasks. It shows up in the way our hospital feels every day.

As one colleague shared, excellent patient care doesn’t just happen at the bedside. It starts with a clean, safe place to heal — and Marlene reminds us of that every day.
