The rally continues to be an important opportunity to connect people with resources, share information, and support individuals and families navigating recovery. It’s work that matters across the River Valley.

👣 Foot & Ankle Care, Closer to Home

If you’ve been dealing with foot or ankle pain, there’s now another option right here in Rumford.

Cason Quinn, DPM is seeing patients at Rumford Hospital, bringing experience in complex foot and ankle conditions, including reconstruction and trauma.

Dr. Quinn was drawn to rural Maine to be part of a community where her skills are truly needed. She’s known for taking the time to build trust with her patients and approaching care with a personal, thoughtful touch.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

Every day, people come in for a screening that could change, or even save, their life. Colorectal cancer often begins as small polyps that can be found and removed before they become cancer.

That’s why screening is so important. Most adults should begin screening at age 45, and a colonoscopy remains one of the most effective ways to detect and remove polyps early.

Sometimes the most powerful step you can take for your health is simply getting checked. 💙

Big news for Rumford Hospital and the River Valley 💙

Rumford Hospital will receive $6.4 million in federal funding to support important upgrades to our Emergency Department, strengthening the care our community relies on every day.

Secured by Senator Susan Collins, this funding will help expand space in the emergency department, upgrade technology, and improve how patients move through care when minutes matter most.

For our team and for River Valley, it’s a meaningful investment in keeping high-quality emergency care close to home.

Dr. Dennis Sullivan of Central Maine Healthcare Orthopedics has served as Team Physician for the U17 USA Men’s Hockey Team, working with several players and coaches over the past 25 years who have since gone on to represent Team USA on the Olympic stage.

Throughout February, you may have noticed team members at Rumford Hospital wearing red in recognition of National Women’s Heart Month.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Around the world, it claims more women’s lives than all cancers combined. Too often, women don’t recognize the warning signs — or wait too long to seek care. Awareness and prevention truly matter.

February may be coming to a close, but our commitment to caring for the hearts of the River Valley community continues every day. ❤️

At Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, the Prevention and Sub-Specialty Clinic is helping patients understand their personal risk for heart disease and take action early.

Led by Jared Tobolski, MD, the clinic provides individualized assessments, medication reviews, and practical guidance on lifestyle changes. Patients are already seeing improvements in blood pressure and cholesterol levels!

With February recognized as Heart Health Month, it’s a timely reminder to check in on your heart health. 💙
