Early detection can make a life-saving difference. 💙

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and screenings can help detect it early — often before symptoms appear, when treatment is most effective.

Men age 50 and older — or earlier for those with higher risk factors such as family history — should talk with their provider about whether prostate cancer screening is right for them.

Prevention starts with awareness and proactive care.

Heart-healthy choices can still be simple and delicious. ❤️

Tuna is a great source of lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health and may help lower cholesterol levels.

This lighter tuna salad sandwich is a smart way to enjoy a classic favorite while making choices that protect your heart.

Small changes in your daily meals can make a lasting difference.

Our team was proud to participate in a BEFAST stroke education session today at Princeton Place, helping long-term care staff recognize the warning signs of stroke and respond quickly when it matters most. 💙

The training was hosted by Donice Fletcher with LERN and brought together healthcare partners across our community, including NLMC Emergency Department leadership, Pafford EMS, and Princeton Place nursing leadership.

Education like this helps ensure faster recognition, quicker treatment, and better outcomes for patients experiencing possible strokes.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our community partners to strengthen stroke awareness and improve patient care. Alpine will be next!

Did you know many heart patients qualify for cardiac rehab after surgery or a heart event?

At NLMC, our Phase II outpatient cardiac rehab program helps patients safely recover with:

• Supervised exercise
• Heart monitoring during workouts
• Small group support
• Education to build lifelong healthy habits

Most insurance plans cover up to 36 visits — giving you the time and support you need to heal the right way.

Talk with your provider about a referral. Visit https://northernlouisianamedicalcenter.com/services/heart-care/cardiac-rehabilitation/ for more information or to find our physician directory.

This American Heart Month, remember that a healthy heart is a leading factor in wound healing.

Proper circulation ensures the oxygen and nutrients crucial to healing are able to reach the wound. This is why the first step in our 7 Steps of Wound Management is to address the patient's blood flow.

For patients with wounds, proper diagnosis and early intervention is key to healing. Find a RestorixHealth wound center near you at www.RestorixHealth.com/locations!

Early detection is one of the most powerful tools in preventing cervical cancer -- the 4th most common cancer in women globally. 💙

Routine screenings, including Pap tests and HPV testing, can identify abnormal cells before they develop into cancer — when treatment is most effective.

Screening guidelines generally recommend beginning at age 21 and continuing regularly based on age and risk factors.

Not sure if you may be at higher risk? Use the assessment tool below and talk with your provider about the right screening plan for you.

Taking a few minutes today could protect your health for years to come.

Heart health isn’t just about cardio — strength training plays an important role too. ❤️

Building muscle helps your body use oxygen more efficiently, supports healthy blood pressure, and improves overall heart function.

Simple strength exercises like resistance bands, light weights, or bodyweight movements can make a meaningful difference when done regularly.

Start slow, stay consistent, and talk with your provider before beginning any new exercise routine.

Your heart gets stronger when you do. 💙

Early detection can save your life. 💙

Screenings for colon and re**al cancer can find precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer — and detect cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

If you’re 45 or older, or have risk factors, talk with your provider about when to begin screening.

Use this risk calculator to determine if you're at higher than average risk for developing colon or re**al cancer and may need to see a provider sooner than later --> https://ccrisktool.cancer.gov/

Prevention starts with awareness — and a simple screening could make all the difference.
