How effective is this year’s flu vaccine?
in a really good year, the flu vaccine is at best 60% to 65% effective at preventing you from getting sick. From some of the early reports, it’s somewhere between 30% to 40% this season.”

Although the flu shot may not keep you from succumbing to the illness, it lessens your odds of having a severe case, keeps you out of the hospital, and shortens the duration of illness, even in flu seasons like this one, when the vaccine is less than a perfect match for the virus.

“Any protection you get from the vaccine is better than zero protection you get without it,”

BEYFORTUS (RSV antibody shot) UPDATE~~

RSV season is fast approaching. If you have an infant entering their first RSV season and you are interested in getting them the Beyfortus shot please give our office a call for more information. The antibody is administered starting in October and will provide protection through the RSV season.

In New Jersey, weekly cases of influenza doubled between Christmas week and the last week of January, from about 1,000 to over 2,000 cases, according to state’s Respiratory Illness Surveillance Report for the week ending Jan. 25.

They’re also up since last year, with 229.66% more cases reported in the week ending Jan. 25, 2025, compared to the same week in 2024. Hospitalizations are also up 230.49% compared to the same week last year.
