Our partners at Southern Vermont AHEC gave a great shoutout to one of our pharmacists today! We’re so thankful for their ongoing efforts to educate and promote the many career paths available in healthcare.

October is Vermont Health Careers Awareness Month — and we’re celebrating by spotlighting inspiring local professionals who’ve found purpose and passion in healthcare.

Meet Ryan Waltzer, PharmD, Pharmacist & Pharmacy Manager at Community Health new pharmacy in Rutland, Vermont!

Ryan’s pathway into healthcare began with a love for science and a desire to help people. Please read about his journey first hand.

"My appreciation for science and desire to help people set me on the path to work in healthcare early on. However, I did not know what specific field to pursue until I happened upon an elective class in college called "Drugs and Human Behavior". The passionate yet eccentric professor inspired me with his insights into the intricacies of drug effects on the human body. Using real-world examples and his personal exploration of pharmacological principles, he encouraged me to think critically about the impact of medications on health.

Fast-forward over a decade, and I am now proud to be the Pharmacy Manager for Community Health's new pharmacy in Rutland. In this role, I can apply my expertise in pharmacology to make a meaningful impact on improving my patients' health and well-being. I am excited to share my knowledge and passion for this field, helping to ensure the safe and effective use of medications to support the overall wellness of the community."

Thank you, Ryan, for all you do — and for showing us just how rewarding a career in healthcare can be.

Today we share with you some EXCITING, AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, FANTASTIC news. Our Walk to End Alzheimer's event held in Rutland has met - AND EXCEEDED - this year's fundraising goal of $67,200. That's right - as of today, $72,420 has been raised! None of it would been possible without the dedication and hard work of the planning committee, chapter staff, volunteers and the Rutland community. You all have truly made a difference in the lives of your fellow Vermonters who are living with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Thank you!
