Don’t Forget to Turn Your Clocks Back Tonight!

Autumn is here and the end of Daylight Saving Time is upon us. What seems like a harmless one-hour time change causes many to get thrown off their game for several days. Most noticeably, Daylight Savings can throw off sleep cycles. Good sleep hygiene is a great place to start with your nightly sleep routine - that means no TV, and certainly no violent or scary movies before bed! Having a sleep-friendly environment will improve your chances of falling asleep for the next few nights and actually staying asleep. That means reducing caffeine and alcohol, exercising several hours before bedtime and using relaxation techniques like a hot bath or soothing essential oils in your bedroom. It is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Most important - don't forget to set your clocks back before you go to bed tonight, at least the ones that technology does not take care of for us!
