Sometimes the simplest things are the most powerful.

A breath.
A pause.
A room of people gathering with the shared intention to slow down and reconnect.

At Wainwright House, our Community Class series was created as a gesture of gratitude from our Board — an open invitation to come together in practices that nurture collective wellbeing.

Our next gathering, Return to Breath, is a 90-minute guided breathwork circle led by Through rhythmic Healing Breathwork, this practice creates space for emotional release, renewed clarity, and a deeper connection to yourself and those around you.

Breathwork has a way of meeting each person exactly where they are. For some it brings calm, for others insight, and sometimes simply the feeling of coming home to yourself.

Sunday afternoons have a certain feeling to them.
The weekend begins to soften… and the hum of the week ahead slowly creeps in.

At Wainwright House, we believe Sunday can be something else entirely — a moment to pause, breathe, and reset.

Soul Pause is a 90-minute experience of gentle yoga, grounding sound, and intentional stillness designed to soften the nervous system and gently shoo away the Sunday Scaries before they settle in.

Guided by yoga therapist and sound healer , this immersive gathering invites you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and step into the week ahead feeling steadier, clearer, and more at ease.

Think of it as a weekly exhale.

“A host, of golden daffodils… fluttering and dancing in the breeze.” 🌼

William Wordsworth captured something timeless about these early messengers of spring — the quiet joy they bring after the long stillness of winter.

Today’s beautiful sunshine felt like a small reminder to pause and soak it in — especially with a few rainy days ahead.

Last fall, members of planted daffodil bulbs along the front of Wainwright House as a gift to the community. Beneath the soil, those first signs of spring are already quietly stirring.

Soon enough, they’ll begin to bloom, brightening the entrance and welcoming everyone who comes through our doors.

That spirit of renewal will culminate in a delightful partnership this spring as Wainwright House hosts the Little Garden Club of Rye’s Annual Daffodil Show.

Yesterday the rooms of Wainwright House were filled with curiosity, conversation, and the energy of young minds exploring big ideas.

Students from Rye High School’s History & Economics Club transformed the house into a living classroom, presenting research on topics ranging from the 1929 Stock Market Crash and the Great Depression to the Marshall Plan, Tulipmania, and the future of our nation’s economy.

What made the afternoon so special wasn’t just the impressive work — it was the spirit of the room. Families, neighbors, and community members of all ages moved from table to table, listening, asking questions, and engaging with students who are discovering their passion for history, economics, and the forces that shape our world.

At Wainwright House, we believe places like this should be alive with ideas — where generations meet, curiosity is encouraged, and young voices are given space to be heard.

We’re incredibly grateful to the students and teachers who brought this program to life and allowed Wainwright to be the gathering place for it.

Moments like this remind us why spaces for learning, conversation, and community matter.

Parenting can feel like a loop of reminders, raised voices, and wondering if you’re doing it right.

What if cooperation didn’t require control?

On March 19, we’re welcoming Rye-based Parent Coach to Wainwright House for a powerful workshop designed to help parents build respect and responsibility — while protecting the parent-child relationship.

Josine blends research, child psychology, and real-life motherhood (she’s raising two kiddos herself) to offer tools that actually work.

If you’ve ever wished for calmer mornings, fewer power struggles, and more connection — this evening is for you.

There are concerts.
And then there are listening experiences.

On May 9th, brings her luminous, soul-steeped songwriting to Wainwright House for one rare evening overlooking the Long Island Sound.

With three acclaimed albums and songs placed across film and television, Jenna has shared stages with Ingrid Michaelson and Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard, and performed in storied rooms like Carnegie Hall and the Beacon Theatre.

Now, she steps into something more intimate.

A piano.
A guitar.
The Long Island Sound.

Her sound carries the grit of New Orleans soul, the expanse of Western storytelling, and the warmth of vinyl played late into the night. This is music that doesn’t rush you, it draws you in.

Set against the backdrop of the Sound at golden hour, this concert is intentionally limited — created for deep listening, connection, and the kind of stillness we rarely give ourselves.
