Sabetha Community Hospital has continued its commitment to infant and maternal health by earning recognition through High 5 for Mom & Baby, a program developed by the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund to increase breastfeeding initiation and duration rates in Kansas.

High 5 for Mom & Baby provides resources and a framework to help Kansas hospitals and birthing centers implement evidence-based practices proven to support successful breastfeeding, improving maternal and infant health outcomes while also reducing racial and ethnic health disparities.

Along with the recognition of being named a High 5 for Mom & Baby facility, Sabetha Community Hospital also receives ongoing education and training opportunities, support and resources through a community of delivery centers, and scholarship opportunities to further staff education.

Welcoming Dr. John Riopelle to Sabetha Community Hospital! 🩺

We are pleased to announce that Dr. John Riopelle, Gastroenterologist, will begin seeing patients at Sabetha Community Hospital starting April 14th.

Dr. Riopelle brings specialized expertise to our facility, providing comprehensive care in our Outpatient Clinic. In addition to consultations, he will be performing essential procedures in our Surgery Department, including:

EGDs (Upper Endoscopy)

Colonoscopies

Providing high-quality specialty care close to home is our priority.

The Clinical Distinction and Excellence in Patient Satisfaction Awards recognize wound centers that have demonstrated exceptional success by meeting or exceeding clinical and patient satisfaction benchmarks. We are honored to be a recipient of both awards for services provided from July 2025 to December 2025. The SCH Wound Clinic is dedicated to optimizing outcomes and preventing lower limb loss in patients with non-healing wounds. Their approach to wound care is comprehensive, coordinating traditional and advanced therapies that aid and accelerate the healing process.

This a great opportunity for those interested in nursing!

Do you know a high school or college-aged student interested in the nursing profession? The University of Kansas Health System’s Nurse Academy is a one-day program that will give interested students the opportunity to practice hands-on nursing skills, learn about different fields within nursing and tour patient care delivery areas at The University of Kansas Health System.

Three sessions of Nurse Academy are available this summer:

Session 1: June 17
Session 2: July 8
Session 2: July 22
