“Touch plays a very important role in our lives. It helps us feel less isolated and it helps us feel more connected to the people around us,”... “When we are deprived of physical contact for extended periods of time — as many of us have been during the pandemic —we might be what's called ‘touch starved.’ When this happens, we might notice an increase in depression, anxiety, isolation, withdrawal, increased stress levels for ourselves.”...

During these unprecedented months, I too have had many clients plead with me that the loss of physical touch has significantly impacted their mental health. Please know that I TRULY TRULY empathize with you and I also am anxiously waiting to reconnect with you ALL.

Until then, let's continue being connected in whatever way possible we can to counteract some of the negative side effects of touch deprivation. Please feel to reach out to us to inquire about our social distancing options. We are looking forward to speaking with you 💕

"Research shows that even gentle touch from a stranger can make us feel more connected to the world around you," Jen Hartstein tells Yahoo Life.

Hello, AMAZING People!

I just wanted to give you all an update that due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) “shelter in place“ order in Sacramento County, I will ONLY be offering virtual connection sessions via Skype, Zoom, FaceTime, Google Duo or telephone for the time being. I have been providing more virtual options over the past few weeks and have found that it is a great way to get the support you need and still feel connected while we wait for this crisis to pass (this too shall pass).

I understand that not only has this pandemic rocked the nation physically and emotionally but also economically. Thus, I have decided to offer FREE virtual connection sessions through May 1st, 2020 for those who are experiencing a significant decrease in revenue, especially those who have lost their jobs due to the crisis.

Sessions are regularly $40/hr. However, through May 1st, virtual sessions are available for FREE with an option to voluntarily donate up to $40/hr. *** DONATION ARE NOT REQUIRED! *** If you are in the position to donate, please feel free to choose an amount, if any, that best fits your budget!

WHAT WE CAN DO DURING OUR SESSION:

• We can share a meaningful conversation so that you really feel seen (I have some good question games).

• We can work on your boundaries, so you feel more confident advocating for yourself at work or at home.

• I can hold space for you while you share your Covid-19 fears or struggles.

• If you're a spiritual person, I'm also available for meditative talks that are specific to you and your needs.

• Or… to keep things lighthearted, we can sing, dance or even play a game! Your choice!

Whichever option you choose, I will show up with a comforting smile, positive energy, and a non-judgmental heart.

Please send me a PM me, call or email nina@theartoftouch.org if you would like to schedule a session between 9:00 am - 9:00 pm or for more information.

In the meantime,… Stay SAFE and HEALTHY my friends!

Hello Lovely People!

I hope no one has felt that I have evaded them, as I was incredibly present while on sabbatical. Well, I am back and again accepting appointments!

I am so happy and grateful to have made it back home to my family and friends. I missed my kiddos sooo much that I loved them up non-stop for a whole week lol ❤ But I can’t help to reminisce on what a beautiful time I had. My private beach was quiet with only the melody of the native birds, the warm breeze and the soothing waves. When you can learn to quietly sit still, be present in the moment, and enjoy every little bit of life before you... this is where you truly cognize GRATITUDE.

Given so, one evening while sitting on my lanai and watching the sun melt into the beautiful ocean, I was inspired to write a poem about appreciation that I titled, “Gratitude” and I’d like to share it with you all.

GRATITUDE;

I have come to realize and appreciate,
All the things He has given me,
The love that surrounds my life,
And the faith that inspires me

I am grateful for this gentle breeze,
And for the sunset and sunrise,
All evidence of His magnificent works,
Oh, the little things others do not recognize

I am grateful for these waves,
The gentle lulling of the Maui sea,
A cool refreshing relief to my day,
That restores ease and peace inside me

I am grateful for light,
A pathway in the darkness,
A sign of hope and goodwill,
And a future so luminous

I am grateful for true friends,
Who believe in me no matter how crazy or blithe
Who lovingly correct my steps,
And speak logic when I am not right

I am grateful for words,
To describe awe-inspiring things,
To make others laugh and cry tears of joy,
Sounds as sweet as honey with deeper meanings

I am grateful for stories,
As they bring understanding,
Sometimes they educated and other times they create escape,
Lessons learned at that moment in time, others… in due time.

I am grateful for emotions,
They allow us to express what’s inside,
The universal language,
When words are hard to describe

I am grateful for the breath in my lungs,
For it is an acknowledgment that I am very much alive,
Whatever our individual circumstances and challenges,
It’s important to pause, take a deep breath and know, we will survive

Above all, I am grateful for the Father of all Creations,
Who masterfully created me into existence,
He’s given us soo many precious gifts,
His Son, Love, Hope, and underserved kindness.

Because I knew I was unworthy to receive that gift from above,
I’ll never forget the night He delivered a special gift to me,
Beautifully wrapped with love was the peace of God that surpasses all understanding,
Adorned with strength and courage that set my burdened spirit free.

The universe is a vast place,
Where everything should be appreciated,
The many things seen and that of which is unseen,
Times already celebrated and future occasions long-awaited.

Oh Jehovah, today I bring you so much thanks and praise,
And to you and only you, my wholehearted prayers and gratitude I raise.

=================

Hope you all enjoy it ❤

Hugs and love to you all.

** WE ALL HAVE A STORY **

Mine was that for nearly 17 years of my life, all I had ever known was pain. I knew it well. It was what I expected. It was the only consistent thing in my life. It was my norm and I was content with it.

Until one day... I was REintroduced to my worth.

When a life without pain began for me, I felt uncomfortable and confused. It felt foreign. I knew I wanted it, of course. I dreamt of it. But I didn’t know how to accept it. I didn’t know who I was without chaos and pain.

A road to healing the unhealthy parts of me was a must. I had to learn self-awareness, set boundaries, decode behavioral and survival patterns. This was uncharted territory. I had to be completely honest that I had no idea what I was doing, ask for help and talk it out.

Most importantly I had to believe that I was worthy. That there was an amazingly beautiful life for me beyond the borders of pain and suffering. And, there was... And it is BEAUTIFUL!!

I'm happy to say, there’s one for you too!

Healing isn’t linear. It’s forever a journey. Love and accept all the unique parts of you. Wounds, scars, and all the beauty that is you.

And, if you aren't yet in a place of self-love and acceptance, well that's ok! Let us hold a safe space for you and help gently guide you through YOUR journey of healing.

We walk alongside you in whatever chapter of your story you are in. All without judgment, making you feel inadequate, trying to fix you, or trying to impact the outcome. We open our hearts, offer unconditional support, and respect your decisions and boundaries.

So come, tell us your story.
