Don’t judge a resident by their door…
Just like you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, you definitely shouldn’t judge a resident by theirs.

Take Robert — a lovable but stoic veteran who surprises everyone with the bright, colorful artwork covering his door. He recently discovered a love for coloring, and now his door is one of the happiest, most vibrant spots in the hallway. (Yes, that is a little wiener dog in the mix.)

You’ll also spot his proudly displayed certificate from winning our Halloween Door Decorating Contest earlier this year — and he earned every bit of it.

A good reminder that behind every door is a story, a spark, and sometimes… a very creative veteran.

Some moments just stop you in your tracks. 💛

Yesterday, our newest resident, Kiyoko, moved into Golden Pond. It’s been a hard season for her — the loss of her husband, an injury at home, and the big transition of leaving the place she’s known for so many years.

But then… something magical happened.

As we were getting her settled, she discovered that her longtime friend Millie lives here too. Their husbands worked together at the Army Depot, and Kiyoko spent many years working there herself. It took a minute for the memory to click — but when it did, her whole face lit up.

Two widowed friends, reconnecting after years apart… and then wandering off to an activity together as if no time had passed at all.

It was one of those “hard not to cry” moments that reminds us why community matters so much. 💛

Golden Pond is proud to be a drop-off location for the Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Drive again this year. Our residents and families have already started donating, and it’s been so sweet to see.

If you’d like to donate a toy, feel free to stop by anytime before December 10.

And on December 10 from 3–6 PM, we’re hosting our Holiday Craft Fair with local vendors and live music. The Santa Parade will pass by around 6:15, and our front courtyard is one of the best viewing spots. Bring the family, enjoy the craft fair, and stay for the parade if you’d like — we’d love to have you

🎶 We had such a treat today from the Destiny Christian Academy high school choir! They filled our lounge with music — from upbeat tunes with piano and Cajón beats to a beautiful Thanksgiving song sung in Latin, and even a Disney princess medley mashup that had everyone smiling.

Our residents loved every moment… especially Joan, who clearly knew how to get comfy for the show 😄💙

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes 🇺🇸

Today at Golden Pond, we celebrated our Veterans with a beautiful pinning ceremony. Thank you to Advanced Home Health and Hospice, First Call Hospice, and Arcadia Home Care for making it so special — and to everyone who helped make the day meaningful, including the young musician who performed “Taps” so beautifully and the Girl Scout who shared flags with our Veterans.

A special shout-out to our amazing Nurse Jacqui, who began her nursing career in two branches of the U.S. military! 💪

From all of us at Golden Pond: thank you to every Veteran for your service, courage, and the freedom you’ve given us all. ❤️🤍💙

Something hauntingly fun has happened at Golden Pond!
Our art gallery has been taken over by tiny ghosts — rowing across the pond, walking skeleton dogs, and picnicking under the trees. 🩶

We’re calling it The Haunted Gallery — a playful Halloween twist created by our team to bring a little spooky magic to the season!
