Friday the 13th gets a bad reputation.

Black cats. Broken mirrors. Bad luck.
All the things we’re taught to fear.

But fear is powerful.
Not because it predicts the future…
but because it shapes how we experience it.

When you expect something to go wrong, your brain starts scanning for proof.
When you expect calm, opportunity, or protection… it scans for that instead.

Travel has a funny way of showing you things about yourself.

You leave what’s familiar.
You step into new places, new rhythms, new experiences.

And somewhere along the way, you notice something shift.

Some of you might notice something different the next time you come into the office.

For a little over a year, if you walked through the doors at Sacramento Hypnotherapy, there’s a good chance I was the one at the front desk… answering questions, helping schedule sessions, and making sure everything behind the scenes was running smoothly.

We called my role the Enchantress of Operations, and honestly… I loved it.

I loved being part of the rhythm of this place.
I loved meeting so many of you.
I loved getting to witness the quiet ways people change when they start doing this work.

But life has a way of nudging you forward when you least expect it.

Recently, I made the decision to move to Florida and follow a dream that’s been growing in my heart for a while now. It was one of those decisions that feels exciting and a little scary at the same time, the kind where you realize you have to trust yourself more than your comfort zone.

Leaving the front desk wasn’t easy, because Sacramento Hypnotherapy isn’t just a workplace to me. It’s a family.

The good news is that I’m not disappearing entirely. I’ll still be behind the scenes doing social media and writing the newsletter, which means I still get to be part of this beautiful community, just in a different way.

And maybe that’s the reminder I want to share today.

Sometimes following your dreams doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.

Sometimes it just means letting your role in the story evolve.

If there’s something in your life quietly calling you forward… a change, a risk, a dream you’ve been afraid to say out loud, don’t ignore that voice.

It might just be the beginning of your next chapter.

That one hour shift might seem small,
but your body runs on patterns… sleep cycles, light, routines.

When those change suddenly, your nervous system notices.

You might feel a little foggy.
A little slower.
A little off rhythm for a few days.

That’s normal.

Balance isn’t something you force overnight.
It’s something you return to, gently.

Soul Meets Body - Death Cab For Cutie

The idea of the world where “soul meets body” speaks to something so human, the desire for alignment within ourselves.

People are familiar with the feeling of being split between their thoughts and their emotions. We tend to over analyze things and try to protect and cope with them. In doing so, we can loose that sense of connection to our own inner truth. When he sings, “I want to live where soul meets body,” I hear a desire for integration. A wish for the soul and body to truly see one another and to exist on the same level, and to no longer suffer in separation.

That’s what healing is to me. It’s not about fixing what’s “wrong.” It’s about creating safety within ourselves

In many ways, this is the heart of hypnotherapy, where insight becomes embodiment.

Sometimes we pull away from good things before they even have a chance to unfold.

Not because we don’t care.
But because we do.

When something matters to us, the possibility of losing it can feel overwhelming. So our minds try to protect us. We brace. We distance ourselves. We prepare for an ending that hasn’t even happened yet.

But living that way means missing the middle.
