During 2025, Loan Repayment awardees reported providing over 1.4 million Medi-Cal patient encounters throughout the state of California. In total, 67% of their collective patient caseload provided medical and dental care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries supporting increased access to care.

Thanks to a MedStudentsServe grant, California Northstate University medical students brought free, compassionate vision care directly to people who needed it most. From prescription glasses and eye exams to medications, Medi-Cal support, and referrals for ongoing treatment. They sat with patients who hadn’t seen a doctor in decades. They helped unhoused neighbors choose their first pair of glasses in years. They supported BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and refugee families who have long faced barriers to care. ✨
