You are likely aware of the recent announcement from the Federal Aviation Administration that 40 of our nation’s busiest airports are facing a phased reduction in scheduled flights. Beginning today, four percent of flights are impacted, potentially rising to ten percent due to air traffic control staffing pressures resulting from the ongoing government shutdown.
This development has direct implications for the travel advisor community and the clients you serve. ASTA is committed to keeping you informed, equipping you with guidance, and helping you turn this disruption into a competitive advantage through proactive planning and client communication.
As your national trade association, ASTA is actively engaged on multiple fronts. We are continuing to advocate for an immediate end to the government shutdown and a return to full FAA operations. Our advocacy team is in close contact with federal officials and industry partners to ensure that travel advisors’ concerns are heard as operational decisions are made.
