“It still feels surreal knowing I've helped give someone another chance. I never imagined I'd be able to do something like this, and I'm just incredibly grateful that I was in a position to help someone out there.”

Samantha joined the stem cell register after her Sixth Form tutor told her how life-changing it could be.

“It really stuck with me, so as soon as I got home, I signed up! Even if I was never called to donate, at least I’d tried and put myself out there.”

When she found out she was a match a few years later, she had a mix of nerves and excitement.

“I honestly felt a bit imposter-y, like ‘no way this can’t actually be me.’ But mostly I focused on being able to give someone a second chance or more time with their loved ones – it felt incredibly special.

I passed the time revising for exams and playing Pokémon Go – not quite the heroic image people imagine, but very on brand for me! The staff were amazing, and my body produced nearly three times as many stem cells as needed. I’m genuinely so proud of it.”

After the donation was complete, Samantha couldn’t help but feel the magnitude of what donating means to someone in need.

“To those considering joining the stem cell register, I would absolutely say go for it. You are completely supported the entire way and any discomfort you may experience feels so small compared to the impact you can have on someone else’s life.”

A huge thank you to Samantha for donating her stem cells to help a total stranger. 💚

A good deed can !

Missy was searching for a match to survive a rare T-cell lymphoma. No one in her family was a match.

David had joined the registry on a Birthright trip to Israel. When he got the call, he said yes.

In 2016, they met for the first time. A stranger became her .

This Good Deeds Day, you can be that person for someone else. Join the registry at www.giftoflife.org.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, She was born on July 8th, 1926, she was a pioneering figure whose work forever changed how we understand death and dying, grief and loss and life itself.

She was a woman of mysteries who also believed in life after death, angels and near death experience, spirituality and the importance of unconditional love. Her legacy and works in the past continue in many parts of the world to this day. She worked hard for the service of mankind and she was a beacon of hope to most of us.

Best known for introducing the concept of the Five Stages of Grief—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance—her insights offered a compassionate framework for navigating loss. At a time when death was often treated as a taboo subject, Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross brought it into open conversation, encouraging honesty, dignity, and emotional awareness.

As we reflect on her centenary, we would like to honor and celebrate her life contributions by asking our supporters in this group to invite your friends and family to like this page. It will be an honor to reach 100,000 followers before her 100th birthday in July this year.

Please feel free to add comments and personal reflections of your associations with Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.
