Checking your pulse during acupuncture isn’t quite the same as checking your heart rate at the doctor’s office. 💗

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the pulse offers detailed information about how different systems of the body are functioning. Practitioners feel subtle qualities such as depth, strength, rhythm, and tension to better understand patterns of imbalance.
This information helps guide a personalized acupuncture treatment designed specifically for you.

Shoulder tension, neck stiffness, and headaches often go hand in hand. 😓

Acupuncture helps release tight muscles and improve circulation along key pathways in the body, which can reduce both pain and headache frequency.

If you’re dealing with chronic tension or recurring headaches, acupuncture may help.

Sciatica and low back pain are some of the most common reasons people come in for
acupuncture.

Often the issue involves tight muscles deep in the hip, like the piriformis, which can put pressure on the sciatic nerve and cause pain that radiates down the leg.

Acupuncture helps relax tight muscles and reduce inflammation, while cupping increases circulation to the area to support healing.

If you’re dealing with sciatica or persistent low back pain, acupuncture may help.

Ever wondered why your acupuncturist asks to see your tongue? 👅

Tongue diagnosis has been used by Doctors of Oriental Medicine for nearly 3,000 years. During an appointment, I look at the coating, color, shape, and whether the tongue appears swollen or thin, along with several other clues that can help me understand what’s happening inside the body.

I don’t always need to do tongue diagnosis — if someone comes in for something straightforward like knee pain or low back pain, it may not be necessary. But it can be an incredibly helpful tool when I’m prescribing Chinese herbal remedies or working through a more complex diagnosis.

Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the body as a whole system, and sometimes the tongue can tell us a lot.

Multivitamins are one of the most common supplements people take, but the research behindthem is surprisingly mixed.

Nearly half of Americans take a multivitamin, yet studies continue to show inconsistent results.

One reason may be that every body absorbs nutrients differently, and many multivitamins simply aren’t formulated for optimal absorption.

In my clinical experience, targeted nutrients from reputable manufacturers tend to produce much more noticeable results than a general multivitamin.

If you’re curious about how acupuncture, nutrition, and lifestyle changes can support your health naturally, I’d love to help guide you.

One of the most common questions I get in the clinic is: “How does acupuncture actually work?” 🤔

You’ve probably seen explanations online about moving qi through meridians… but for many people that doesn’t really help explain what’s happening. In the video I share a simpler way to think about it.

Your body already knows how to heal. Think about a small paper cut — your body sends signals to the brain and healing blood flow moves to that exact area.
Acupuncture works with that same natural process.

By placing very small needles at specific points along nerve pathways, we send a message to the brain that helps trigger healing blood flow and shifts in neurotransmitters like dopamine and endorphins. In other words — we’re working with the body’s own healing system.

If you’ve been curious about acupuncture or wondering how it works, this video is a great place to start. Come on in, ask questions, and maybe take a little acu-nap while you’re here. I’d love to see you soon!

Did you know there’s an acupuncture point in your hand that can help with headaches, stress, and facial tension? 😣

This point is called Hegu (LI4) and it’s located in the webbing between your thumb and index finger.

In acupuncture, it’s known as the “command point of the head and face.”

It’s commonly used for things like:
• headaches
• sinus pressure
• jaw tension
• toothaches
• neck stiffness
• stress relief

It’s also used to support immune health and digestion.

Pretty amazing that one little point in the hand can influence so much in the body.
Next time you’re in for treatment, ask me about LI4 — we use this point often.

Hi, friends! I worked with quite a bit of ear acupuncture this week and I wanted to share a little about it. 😊

Auricular acupuncture treats the entire body through specific points on the ear. One of the most widely used protocols is the 5-point NADA protocol (Sympathetic, Shen Men, Kidney, Liver, Lung). It is commonly used for PTSD, addiction recovery, and trauma support because of how effectively it regulates the nervous system.

We also offer Battlefield Acupuncture, which was developed for rapid pain relief and can be very helpful for headaches and acute pain.

For children struggling with ADHD or anxiety, ear acupuncture can be a wonderful, gentle option without medication.

Sometimes we use tiny needles, sometimes small adhesive “ear seeds” that stay in place for continued stimulation.

The body is amazing. The ear is powerful. And natural medicine works.
If you’re curious, schedule online anytime. I’d love to see you soon.

Kristin, thank you for your kind words. It’s truly an honor to walk alongside couples during fertility journeys.

Secondary infertility can bring so many emotions — confusion, stress, frustration, grief. Acupuncture works by supporting the whole system: hormone regulation, improved pelvic blood flow, nervous system balance, and stress reduction.

Whether you are trying naturally or working with a reproductive specialist, acupuncture can be a beautiful complementary support.

If you’ve been feeling discouraged, know that you’re not alone.
When you’re ready, I’m here.

Cupping therapy is available at Calm Community Acupuncture and can be added to your acupuncture session!

Cupping is especially helpful for muscle tension, back and shoulder pain, headaches, and inflammation. It works by increasing circulation to tight or stagnant areas so the body can release and heal more efficiently.

One thing I really love is doing cupping right after acupuncture. It’s different than cupping alone or even cupping after massage.

Acupuncture brings a ton of blood flow to the area first — and then when we add cupping immediately after, it can really increase circulation even more. It’s next level, in my opinion!

Back-of-the-body treatments include cupping and are $85.

If you’ve been dealing with chronic tightness or pain, this combination may be exactly what your body needs.

Schedule online anytime — I’d love to help.
