Roy Wayne Martin

Roy Wayne Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Safford, Arizona. Born on May 10, 1945, in Fabens, Texas, Roy led a life marked by love, humor, and an unwavering dedication to his family.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Roy served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. He embodied the values of service and sacrifice, which he carried forth into every role he played in life. With a career in Water and Waste Management, Roy approached his work with the same commitment and diligence that defined his character.

Roy was a man of many dimensions; he was humorous and sentimental yet most importantly, he was deeply caring and loving towards everyone fortunate enough to know him. His warmth radiated through the countless memories he created with his family, who will forever cherish his legacy. Affectionately known as Tata, he devoted himself to his children and grandchildren, ensuring they were always well cared for. The love he shared with them daily is a treasure that will be greatly missed.

Roy's greatest pride came from marrying the love of his life, Lydia Madrid Martin, on August 2, 1969. Together, they built a family that was rich in love and laughter, a testament to their bond. Tragically, Lydia and several loved ones have preceded him in death, including daughters Lorrie Ann Martin and Lisa Ann Martin, as well as his parents Coy and Alma Martin, siblings Della Moore, Leon Martin, and Dorothy Thompson. Their absence leaves a void that will never be filled.

Surviving Roy are his loving daughters Roxanne (Kenny) Bien, Lamonica (Joshua) Rice, and Rhonda (Reggie) Villalba, along with his son Roy (Johana) Martin. He is also survived by his dear sister Marie Martin, alongside twelve cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Each one carries forward Roy's legacy of love, kindness, and support, a reflection of the man he was.

Beyond his family ties, Roy's interests included fishing and attending various school sports events for his children and grandchildren, where his cheering could be heard loud and clear. His ability to bring joy and laughter into everyday moments was a gift that will never be forgotten.

Roy Wayne Martin will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and devotion to family. He will be honored at a memorial service on November 14, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at 112 E Main St, Safford, AZ, followed by a graveside service with honors at Safford Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we do so with heavy hearts but also immense gratitude for the love he poured into our lives. His memory will live on in our hearts, where his spirit of caring and love will continue to inspire us.
