2016 Relay For Life of Graham County, Arizona

At Relay For Life events, teams of
people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around
a track or path.

Company overview:
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in
communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer,
remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the
event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life events are overnight events up to 24 hours in
length. Relay For Life began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma,Washington, ran
and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then,
Relay For Life has grown from a singleman’s passion to fight cancer into the world’s largest
movement to end the disease. Each year,more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the
United States, along with communities in 20 other countries, gather to take part in this global
phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. Thanks to
Relay participants, the American Cancer Society continues to save lives.

JUST A REMINDER ABOUT THE PLANNING MEETING ON MAY 17TH 2016. 6:00 PM AT THE GRAHAM COUNTY HEALTH ANNEX.
We need input from the community about the possibility of still trying to squeeze one in during the fall of 2016. We have some options available and want to see what everyone thinks. We are still looking for individuals who are willing to help on the committee or in planning the event. Donna Coca has returned to the committee to help with the event.

The 2016 Relay for Life of Graham County has not been planned at this time. We have a meeting scheduled for May 17th, 2016 at the Graham County Health Annex, 6:00 pm to get input from the community about the possibility of still trying to squeeze one in during the fall of 2016. We have some options available and want to see what everyone thinks. We are still looking for individuals who are willing to help on the committee or in planning the event. Donna Coca has returned to the committee to help bring this event back to Graham County.

Hello Safford! I wanted to invite you all to our Event Leadership Team meeting tomorrow, 11/10, at the Health Depth Annex.

We have exciting news to share. We also need to decide on the time frame we want to run Relay for, move it from a 12 hour event to a 6 hour event, what theme we want, and our next steps in the planning process.

Relay For Life is a community owned, volunteer ran, staff supported event. That means Relay needs you! So come join in the fight against cancer!

Hey everyone! Would love to see a whole bunch of people at the Nov. 10th meeting! It will be held at the Health Annex Building at 6pm. We need as many people as possible to discuss the theme this year, possible time changes to Relay, and expectations moving forward. I have one right now; that everyone on the Event Leadership Team (ELT) has fun!

Hope to see you all there! I want to share all the wins we have so far with you all too!

For those of you who have been involved with the Relay for Life of Graham County in previous years and have chosen not to continue being a part of the event or are planning on being a part of the event for 2016, please plan on coming to the meeting on October 1, 2015. There are some changes that they want to inform the community about as well as hear from the community on ways to bring the Relay for Life of Graham County back to what is was three years ago. Your input is needed and wanted -- please be sure to plan on coming out to the meeting.
