Sunday will begin the Chinese Lunar New Year, Year of the Water Rabbit, based on the Chinese twelve astrological symbols as represented by animals including the dragon, and the Five Element system: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The last time it was the Year of the Water Rabbit was 1963, the year I was born. I’ve always had an affinity for rabbits, in fact when I was young growing up in Youngsville, LA, I raised and photographed my rabbits as part of my 4-H project, then my dad and I would butcher them, I would skin them, tan the hides, and dad would cook my favorite, rabbit sauce piquant…damn, ças c’est bon, sha! Wonderful childhood. AJ never disappointed 🐇☯️🐉⚜️

The two archetype totems of the Tao, Yin represented by the White Tiger, and Yang represented by the Azure Dragon. The logo for Menard Acupuncture features the White Tiger, and the Dragon… it’s all about harmony and balance, the objective of the Way. In the works of cannabis extracts- CBD is considered Yin, and THC Yang. They actually balance each other and used in the right proportions, therapeutic.

I’ve been working on the line for quite some time. One of my early brews featuring the secret family recipe from my pal mom and dad. When I’m on the road and didn’t pack my herbal remedies from , and was exposed to people sneezing and coughing, I go old school: nasal wash for irritated sinuses, salt (from the hotel) for salt water gargle, honey (from the hotel) to soothe throat and prevent coughing, and loading up on vitamins C, D, and zinc!! Luckily CVS was around the corner. Too much happening to get sick!! Be well, travel safe brothers and sisters!

I’ve been saying this for months…New York is having the worst roll out for cannabis retail than any other state!! It’s embarrassing and ridiculous. First with the “social equity” of first cannabis retail licenses issued to incarcerated individuals (brilliant), and then not having legal dispensaries up and running a year later, meanwhile NJ, CT, MA, and now more than half the states. Many people coming into the ask me when I’m going to start selling cannabis- at first thought I was interested, now, no way. The bureaucracy is too fu**ed up. However… Dragon may be working with THC in other ways 😎🐉🤫

Some of my best memories in my acupuncture career have been working with fellow acupuncturists in the field bringing acupuncture and Chinese medicine to patients in very remote areas that don’t have good access to healthcare. “Acupuncture Day” is November 15, and I will be working with a local community service group to do the same in our own backyard.
