We are open and ok.

I arrived to the office early this morning to the aftermath of a pretty significant single vehicle crash.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, a driver lost control of their vehicle at the curve on the 1200 block of N. Michigan Ave. and left a path of destruction, damaging the front lawn of the Saginaw Art Museum, before launching the car over our neighbor's concrete ramp, sending the handrails flying before taking out all of our front lights and coming to a rest on top of our sign.

By the time I arrived to the office this morning, the car and driver were long removed from the scene.

No one at our place or at the church were hurt. I have no information on the driver of the errant vehicle. We do hope they are ok.

No significant damage to our building occurred. The yard and the sign took most of the direct hit.

Suffice it to say, all "signs" point to clean up and repair in the near future. Please pardon our dust....and dirt as we prepare to fix it better than before.

We had a terrific day yesterday sharing information toward positive mental health through our free grief support services at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Health Fair.

Thank you to the organizers for providing an event for me to help educate the importance of understanding grief. I was able to introduce our suite of free services available on our website. Several people were thankful for the information due to a loss they experienced.

Congratulations to the winner of our Kroger gift card giveaway.

A Free Real-Time Online Informational Video Conferencing Series on Funerals
Presented by Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., Saginaw, Michigan

--------------

Providing funeral information to consumers has been a major part of the operations here at Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. For decades we have given presentations throughout the community -- in business and industry settings, churches, schools, civic and private groups, and others. Considering the questions we receive via phone calls, emails, and in-person visits each year, the need for this information continues to grow.

The free 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 video conferencing series is led by the licensed funeral directors at Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., and provides valuable information in a small, private, real-time closed group setting, away from noise and other distractions from disinterested parties when held in public venues.

The initial topics we are making plans to speak on include:

• 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
• 𝐀𝐭-𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
• 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬

Maundy Thursday is a solemn reflection on the themes of 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, and 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 that Jesus taught His followers.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐲" comes from the Latin word "𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐦," meaning "command" or "to give". The day is marked by various liturgical practices, including the washing of the disciples' feet and the celebration of Holy Communion.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, commemorates the Last Supper. The Last Supper is where Jesus shares His body and blood with His disciples, symbolizing His sacrifice for humanity.
