Congratulations to our March 2026 Heart of Gold recipients, nominated by their colleagues:
Brett Nyenhuis, RN | Pediatrics
Jodi Turner, RN | Emergency Care Center
An excerpt from Brett’s nomination:
“Always willing to lend a hand, Brett consistently goes above and beyond to support both his patients/families and coworkers. His infectious smile and upbeat personality have a way of brightening even the most challenging days. Whether it’s through a silly joke or a simple gesture of kindness, Brett brings joy and comfort to those around him. Brett is deeply committed to providing exceptional care to every child. He is attentive, detail-oriented, and a fierce advocate for his patients and their families, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and well cared for. Brett embodies what it means to have a heart of gold. His passion, empathy, and teamwork make him an essential part of our healthcare family, and a deserving nominee for this honor.”
An excerpt from Jodi’s nomination:
“Jodi is a charge nurse in the ECC who I feel exemplified patient centered care in a moment of high stress. Was nearing the end of their life. The patient during this time was alert, but in critical condition, and stress in the room was high. Jodi came into the room providing therapeutic communication for this person. The words that she spoke were of sincere kindness, patience, and empathy. The effects of her efforts were very impactful and calming for not only the patient, but the room as well. People rely on their instincts when stress is high, and what she did was impeccable. This situation is one I will remember the rest of my life and the standard has been set. Jodi is team player for the patient, the staff, and Covenant.”
