What is “Text Neck”? 📱
Text neck is a term we use to describe the poor posture and eventual chronic pain—that comes from constantly looking down at your phone.
Phones are a huge part of daily life, and they demand more of our attention than ever. Most of the time, when you pull your phone out of your pocket, you tilt your head forward to check social media, respond to emails or texts, or scroll through funny videos (yes… usually cats 😸).
On average, Americans check their phones over 340 times per day. That’s about once every 4–5 minutes. ❗❗
Each time you look down, even for a second, your neck takes on extra strain. That forward head posture increases the load on your cervical spine imagine holding a heavy weight on your neck over and over again. One time may not seem like much, but repeat it 300+ times a day, and it adds up fast. 💡
Over time, this repetitive stress can lead to muscle tightness, restricted movement, adhesions, and chronic neck pain.
How do you help prevent it?
Instead of bringing your face down to your phone, bring your phone up to eye level. It may feel awkward at first, but your neck will thank you long-term.
Small posture changes today can make a big difference tomorrow. 🙌
