Anyone else love “that newborn baby smell”? 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏽

Did you know that there is an odorless molecule called hexadecanal? It is released by humans and impacts aggressive behavior. The HEX molecule is a molecule released in abundance on the newborn baby’s head. HEX reduces aggression in males and increases aggression in females. In the mammalian world, think PaPa & MaMa Bears, infanticide is a common event with males. Increased aggression in the females is key to infant protection.

Inhaling the scent of your newborn produces an entire range of activity in the parental brain. One more reason to cuddle and take a deep sniff.

How many of you are feeling the urge to catch a whiff?
