Did you know? Holi is a holiday celebrated around the world by Hindus. The festival ,(also known as the “Festival of Colors,” celebrates the start of spring, which is seen as the season of hope and new beginnings. Holi encourages people to reflect on past mistakes and to encourage people to improve themselves to be better people.

Sasha, one of our Food Service Workers in Restaurant and Catering earned NMC's most recent High Reliability Champion honors after being nominated by his peers!

“I have really noticed just how caring, compassionate, and genuine Sasha is in his interactions with [one of our patients]. It is not every day you find someone who goes above and beyond in their role to ensure patients have a good day, every day. Sasha takes the time to allow this patient to feel seen, heard, and valued. As soon as he walks into the room with his contagious smile and positive energy, you can see how the light in her eyes and the smile on her face changes her whole demeanor. I have told Sasha several times just how good he is with our patients, especially this one, but I wanted to also send along this email so you knew as well.”

Recently during a BFA St. Albans vs. MVU girls basketball game, NMC was presented a check of $18,705.76 for the Jim Bashaw Fund. These proceeds were raised during last years Powderpuff game. A huge shout out of thanks to those who helped raise such a generous donation! 💙

Nominate a NMC Nurse for the DAISY Award today! This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families every day.

Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Northwestern Medical Center to receive The DAISY Award. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the Honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors.

Earlier this month, we passed the one-year milestone since the Registered Nurses at Northwestern Medical Center (NMC) voted to form a union. After the election was certified and ground rules were established, the work of collective bargaining for a first contract began on May 8, 2025.

Both NMC and Northwestern Health United (NHU) have invested significant work into making progress.
