Today, we honor the sacrifice and service of all veterans.

At UF Health St. Johns Care Connect, Ronald White, a U.S. Army veteran who served for three years, now works as a peer outreach worker in our Grant Spend Department. In this role, he helps fellow veterans in our community find permanent housing and access vital support.

His mission is simple but powerful: to share his experience, encourage veterans and acknowledge their sacrifice and service. He understands the challenges veterans face including affordable housing, finances, legal issues and mental health or substance abuse struggles, but he’s committed to helping them navigate these obstacles and find stability.

"What guides me every day," he says, "is preparedness, a don’t-quit attitude and honoring the service of every veteran."

On this Veterans Day, we celebrate Ronald’s continued dedication and the meaningful difference he makes in the lives of others. And we extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans for your service.

Throughout October, the UF Health St. Johns Foundation raised money for the Cancer Care Fund at UF Health Flagler Hospital, which supports patients undergoing cancer treatment.

The fund helps cover immediate needs such as bills, food or housing so patients can focus on their health and healing. This support is part of our larger commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care close to home.

Our Cancer Program is accredited through the American College of Surgeons with both the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. These recognitions reflect our dedication to meeting rigorous standards and ensuring patients receive comprehensive treatment right here in our community.

Thank you to the Foundation, our dedicated team members and our patients who donated and helped make this possible. We also appreciate our employees who wore pink every Friday throughout October to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💕

Rodney Hamilton, RN, has been awarded the UF Health St. Johns DAISY Award for the first quarter of 2025. This international honor celebrates nurses who go above and beyond in providing exceptional care.

In the nomination letter, Rodney’s patient described him as “beyond all expectations,” which perfectly reflects his commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. For both his patient and the patient’s spouse, Rodney’s presence was nothing short of remarkable. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life stands out, and it is clear that his colleagues admire him just as much as his patients do. The patient shared that in the past decade, no one has impressed him as deeply as Rodney has.

When receiving his award, Rodney said, “I am just one of the flowers among all the daisies. Everyone on this team deserves this recognition.”

Congratulations, Rodney!
