Strength training or tendon rehab? Did you know that Heavy Slow Resistance Training (HSRT) has been found to be an effective treatment for tendinopathy (formerly called tendinitis) ? This is a great exercise to treat hamstring tendon pain. Believe it. Loading is key when it comes to tendons! All rehab doesn’t have to take place in a clinic. We have more weights to load your tendons with at the gym 😉🍑

Physical Therapy isn't all about Therabands (although They are useful at times) and 3 sets of 10 underloaded exercises. PHYSICAL THERAPY is about creating a rehab program designed specifically for you (THE PATIENT/CLIENT) based on your body, your injury, your state of health, your goals etc. For this client I am addressing weakness in the posterior chain (primarily the BOOTAY) resulting in an overworking previously injured lumbar spine (low back). Why sled drags? 1.) They are fun especially if you are the passenger. 2.) These are a functional way to load up the posterior chain 3.) Concentric concentric concentric = less soreness during recovery. 💪🏼. The results of using this exercise in rehab? My patient wanting a sled for Christmas😀🌲. Shoulder mobility is such a challenge for me and so important to work on to decrease the likelihood of injury. Today I started with passive stretching on the foam roller with the PVC, then I rigged up a little something so I could practice my PAILs against gravity with a gravity assisted RAILs component. Gradually worked the PVC height toward the floor each round as I was able. Finished up with some CARs to loosen and lubricate the joints. Feeling much more open than when I started 😎.

Wrist extension eccentrics to begin re-loading the tendons involved in lateral elbow ("tennis elbow") pain. Our client has made considerable progress after initially reducing the load (stress) to the lateral elbow, followed by re-loading to build back strength and resistance to injury.

Oh, and by the way...if you're thinking of getting a steroid injection to get rid of your elbow pain, research has actually reported worse long term outcomes with injections first!
