The opioid crisis is hitting close to home—but there’s HOPE. Our community is making real progress, and we can’t afford to let myths about Narcan slow us down.

In our three-county region, fentanyl deaths dropped from 80 in 2023 to 54 in 2024 — a 33% decrease. Community intervention works.

Let’s clear up a few common myths:

☑️MYTH: “You can get high from Narcan.” TRUTH: Scientifically impossible.
☑️MYTH: “Narcan enables drug use.” TRUTH: It enables survival—and survival is the first step toward recovery.
☑️MYTH: “You need medical training to use Narcan.” TRUTH: Anyone can use the nasal spray.
☑️MYTH: “Narcan is expensive and hard to get.” TRUTH: Free Narcan kits + training are available locally.

The location is the First United Methodist Church, also known as the pumpkin church. The address is 118 King Street in downtown St. Augustine.
