Our very first unboxing for the Women’s House of Hope!

Today, the boxes arrived and so did the reminder that we are not doing this alone. We are incredibly grateful to Tony and Cheryl Gillian for their generosity in sending so many essentials through our Amazon Wishlist. Toothpaste. Washcloths. Simple, practical items that mean dignity, care, and a fresh start for the women who will soon call this place home.

We are opening the Women’s House of Hope this month, and applications are already coming in from women ready to take their next brave step in their sobriety journey. Every item donated helps create a space that feels safe, welcoming, and full of hope.

Thank you for helping us build more than a house. You’re helping us build a home.

If you’ve been asking how to help, our Amazon Wishlist is still open, and every single item truly matters. Recovery is possible. And it’s better when we do it together.

There’s something special about a home-cooked meal shared around the table.

This week, the men’s house was blessed with meat donated by Matt and Tara. Their kindness helped turn a simple night into one filled with warmth, nourishment, and community, and we’re so grateful!

If you want to try this cozy, crowd-friendly chili at home, here’s the recipe we used:

Men’s House Chili Recipe

Ingredients
• 2 lbs lean ground beef
• 1 small onion, diced
• 1 green bell pepper, diced
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
• 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes (undrained)
• 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans, drained
• 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained
• 3 tbsp chili powder
• 1 tbsp oregano
• 1 tsp cumin
• 1 tsp coriander
• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp pepper
• ¼ tsp cayenne

Instructions
1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
2. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté until nearly tender.
3. Stir in all remaining ingredients.
4. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 30 minutes, until thickened and flavors come together.

Thank you, Matt and Tara, for blessing our home and the men within it.

Today I celebrate 8 years of sobriety.

I’ve had 8 years before and I went back out. That matters to me, because it reminds me that this isn’t about a number. It’s about how I choose to live today.

What’s different this time is simple.
I stopped trying to do this alone.

I built a life centered on service, honest relationships, and showing up for my community. I learned that recovery isn’t sustained by willpower alone, but by connection, accountability, and purpose.

There was a time I truly believed I was hopeless.
If you’re in that place right now, I want you to know this miracle can happen for you, too.

Trust God.
Take it one day at a time.

— Chad B.

Joe, our House Manager, prepared a homemade dinner for the men in the home. On the surface, it may look like a simple act, but research consistently shows it is anything but.

Studies indicate that strong social connections are among the most significant predictors of long-term recovery outcomes. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), individuals with stable, supportive relationships are significantly more likely to maintain sobriety and less likely to relapse compared to those who experience isolation.

Additionally, research published in peer-reviewed public health journals shows that shared meals are associated with lower levels of loneliness, improved emotional regulation, and increased sense of belonging, all of which are critical factors in recovery environments. One large review found that people who regularly share meals report higher life satisfaction and stronger social bonds, both of which directly support mental health and resilience.

For men in recovery, these moments are especially important. Many arrive having experienced prolonged isolation, fractured relationships, and loss of routine. Sitting at a table together:

-Reinforces structure and accountability
-Builds trust and peer connection
-Creates a safe space for conversation and presence
-Reminds each person they are not alone

Recovery does not happen in isolation. It happens in community — often through consistent, ordinary moments that restore dignity and connection.

Thank you, Joe, for leading by example and creating space for healing with one shared meal at a time.

Comeback Recovery Homes is expanding!

We are officially under contract on the House of Hope, and this February, we’ll be opening a women’s recovery home that is a safe, supportive place for women to rebuild, heal, and start again.

We’ve been asked how people can help, and the answer is simple:
Help us create a home.

We’re currently collecting donations of small kitchen appliances, electronics, and home goods, and our Amazon Wish List is now live and ready to shop. All purchases from the list will automatically ship directly to us.

Every item makes a difference. Every gift helps lay the foundation for recovery, dignity, and hope.

Bonus: Stay tuned for your unboxing video shoutout as items arrive!

Thank you for showing up, sharing this, and being part of someone’s comeback.

Huge thank you to for helping us navigate and submit the permits needed to bring the guys’ shed onto the property at Comeback Recovery Homes.

This behind-the-scenes work is a big deal and it allows us to legally and safely add a space that will house our gym equipment and help keep things organized for the men in our program. We’re grateful for partners who step in, handle the details, and help us move the mission forward.

One year ago, the doors of the D. McDougal House opened. And with them, hope did too.

In just twelve months, this house has become more than walls and rooms; it’s become a place of second chances, steady mornings, hard conversations, laughter, prayer, workouts, and learning how to live again.

And this year holds something especially worth celebrating: most of the men in the D. McDougal House have now reached their 6-month mark in recovery.

Six months of choosing sobriety.
Six months of showing up on the hard days.
Six months of rebuilding trust, routines, and belief in themselves.

Recovery isn’t instant.
Healing isn’t linear.
But day by day, this house has been a place where progress is possible and consistency is forming something solid.

We are grateful to the Klines, and to every donor, volunteer, coach, leader, and supporter who helped make the D. McDougal a reality and who continue to help keep the lights on, the fridge full, and the mission moving forward.

Most of all, we honor the men who choose recovery every single day! Your courage, commitment, and willingness to do the work is what makes this house a home.

One year open.
Countless lives moving forward.

Recovery is possible and no one has to do it alone. 🤍

Six years ago, on January 7, 2020, Recovery RX was born out of brokenness, surrender, and a simple but powerful decision: to try one more time.

What started in the depths of addiction, pain, and uncertainty has grown into a movement of hope, healing, and community. Our founder, Chad Belger, didn’t build this from a place of having it all together; he built it while learning to trust God through the ups and downs, the setbacks, the fear, and the faith required to keep going.

There were seasons that felt heavy. Moments where the path forward wasn’t clear. Times when it would’ve been easier to quit. But God was faithful, every step, every season, every unknown.

Along the way, He brought the right people.
People who believed.
People who showed up.
People who said yes to the mission.
People who carried the vision when it felt too heavy to hold alone.

Today, Recovery RX is no longer just an idea; it’s a living, breathing community. A place where men and women in recovery find strength, belonging, purpose, and peace. A place where fitness becomes connection, and connection becomes life change.

Because of God’s grace, the courage to keep going, and a community willing to stand together, lives are being changed every single day.

Thank you to every supporter, donor, volunteer, coach, partner, and every man and woman who has trusted us with their story.

The promises are real.
The work continues.
And this is only the beginning.

Happy 6 Years to Recovery RX!

New Year Habits That Support Recovery

Recovery isn’t about perfection, but it’s about daily, intentional practices that create stability, strength, and hope. As we step into a new year, here are habits that help build a solid foundation for lasting recovery:

- Start the day with structure. Wake up with a plan: prayer, journaling, movement, or a morning routine that grounds you before the day begins.

- Move your body with purpose. Exercise builds discipline, confidence, and mental clarity. Movement reminds us we’re capable of more than we think.

- Speak honestly, every day. Check in with someone you trust. Transparency breaks isolation, and recovery is never meant to be done alone.

- Practice gratitude, even on hard days. Write down three things you’re thankful for. Gratitude shifts focus from what’s missing to what’s being rebuilt.

- Protect your peace. Set boundaries with people, places, and habits that threaten your sobriety or growth.

- Show up consistently, not perfectly. Small, faithful steps, taken daily to create lasting change.

- Serve someone else. Giving back builds purpose and reminds us we are part of something bigger than ourselves.

New year. New habits. Same commitment to healing, growth, and hope.
