EPIC Behavioral Healthcare Brings CORE To St. Augustine!

EPIC is partnering with Lutheran Services Florida to bring the Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network to St. Augustine. CORE aims to eliminate the stigma of addiction and treat substance use disorder as a disease.

A Supportive System of Care.

The Florida Department of Children and Families, along with the Florida Department of Health (DOH), and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, has launched the Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network to create a comprehensive statewide addiction care system.

CORE enhances Florida’s response to substance use disorders by connecting individuals to long-term care services through care coordinators and peer navigators in emergency departments. This approach aims to break the cycle of overdose and substance use.

Unlike traditional methods that stop at emergency care, CORE links individuals to vital services, including substance use treatment, psychiatric care, and support for housing and nutrition, fostering a foundation for lasting recovery.

This unified approach addresses the opioid epidemic with the urgency and compassion it needs. We are proud to be an intake facility for St. Johns County.

At EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, we provide resources and information to encourage people to discuss mental health and seek services. Our program serves adults, adolescents, and children ages four and older. Call us today at (904) 829-2273.

At EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, we offer the MARS Program, which offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which is the combination of medications, outpatient counseling, care coordination services, and other behavioral therapies, all to treat opioid and/or alcohol addiction.

Research shows that it's the most effective treatment.

If you are ready to stop, we can help. It’s challenging and can be dangerous to stop alcohol and opioid use on your own without medical supervision due to withdrawal symptoms.

For more information or to make an appointment, please call (904) 829-2273 x7102 or (904) 417-7100 for detoxification services at the EPIC Recovery Center.

Our Assistant Director of Medical Services, Dr. Robert Dickinson, recently appeared on Sunny TV with Davey and Melanie. We appreciate Sunny TV’s support for our community!

During the segment, Dr. Dickinson discussed how our new evidence-based ADHD assessments, medication management, and therapy services at EPIC Behavioral Healthcare are breaking down financial and access barriers. This enables more people in our community to receive the mental health support they deserve.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at addressing the underlying issues that contribute to mental health challenges, such as trauma and anxiety, rather than just treating surface symptoms.

We offer resources and information to encourage open discussions about mental health and to help individuals seek the services they need. Our program serves adults, adolescents, and children ages four and older. Contact us today at (904) 829-2273.

Our Rapid Response Team provides urgent or immediate assistance to persons experiencing current behavioral health needs. Call 988 for help.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare offers rapid response services designed to provide on-demand crisis intervention services in any setting where a behavioral health crisis occurs, lessening trauma and providing triage, assessment, and referral to the appropriate treatment.

The Rapid Response Team ensures that individuals 26 years and older in St. Johns County who need crisis intervention and counseling services receive them within 60 minutes of requesting mobile crisis services. The Team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

If this service is needed, please call 988, as they provide an initial screening before the Team’s involvement. Note: If you are concerned about someone 25 and under and would like to request similar Rapid Response services, please call 988, as they also screen for services for that age group.

About EPIC Behavioral Healthcare

Our mission is to strengthen our community by providing person-centered care to individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health disorders, and other behaviors through a comprehensive system of Education, Prevention, Intervention, and Counseling.

Our vision is to be the primary leader of quality, comprehensive behavioral healthcare in our community.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare (EPIC) believes that recovery from addiction, substance use disorders and mental health disorders is real. People can, and do, overcome the internal and external challenges, barriers, and obstacles that confront them. EPIC agrees that addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. EPIC also recognizes that many individuals served by our agency are challenged by a mental health disorder. While treatable, EPIC believes that substance use and mental health disorders impact all areas of an individual’s life, including all of their relationships, vocational/education goals and skills, emotional well-being and their physical health. For both substance use and mental disorders, our commitment is to provide effective, affordable, evidence-based, culturally-sensitive and comprehensive care to impacted individuals and families.

EPIC has historically incorporated the idea of, “wellness,” into our programs. This allows EPIC to have the best outcomes for our clients. EPIC focuses on formalizing its commitment to overall wellness for our clients using SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) 8 Dimensions of Wellness as a guideline.
