A message from EPIC Behavioral Healthcare’s CEO, Nangela Pulsfus, and the Leadership Team.
2025 has been a highly productive year for EPIC. We expanded same-day access to four outpatient sites. We opened the Second Wind Village Sober Living Homes, which serve individuals in recovery, including women with children.
We are partnering with Wildflower Healthcare to provide integrated medical, mental health, and substance use disorder services at the West Augustine Health and Wellness Center, which opened in January.
In addition, EPIC is participating in the Dementia Care and Cure Initiative for St. Johns County, including the UF Health St. Johns Mobile Bus program, which aims to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and informed community for those living with and affected by dementia. We are also excited to share that EPIC now accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B.
Thank you for being an EPIC partner and friend. Your support makes it possible for us to deliver critical services to individuals and families in our community facing substance use and mental health challenges. We look forward to continuing this vital work and creating even greater impact together.

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the EPIC Recovery Center!
Since January 31, 2014, we have provided 24/7 detoxification and residential treatment services.
The EPIC Recovery Center offers both detoxification and residential treatment. Our detox unit has 14 beds, while the residential unit has 12 beds. We create a safe and welcoming environment for patients to begin their journey to recovery from addiction.
In addition to medically monitored detoxification, we provide care coordination, medication-assisted treatment, and peer support services, as well as a 30-day residential program. In 2025, our detox and residential services served 544 individuals.
We also offer Sober Living options for those who complete inpatient treatment. Sober living is an essential next step toward achieving successful sobriety. EPIC's Second Wind Sober Living Village provides a safe environment for individuals to learn to live independently and drug-free.
EPIC’s MARS (Medication Assisted Recovery Services) Clinic combines medications, outpatient counseling, care coordination services, and various behavioral therapies to treat opioid and/or alcohol addiction.
Additionally, we offer brief intervention counseling services, a full-time care coordinator, and a second office located at EPIC's Flagler County campus.
MARS screenings and enrollments are conducted at the St. Johns County Jail and through the Hospital Bridge Program, allowing quicker access to our services for qualified clients.
For more information or to make an appointment, please call (904) 829-2273 and press Option 1 for telehealth services, or call (904) 417-7100 for detoxification services at the EPIC Recovery Center.

It's almost time for the 31st Annual Tips for Kids' Sake, which will take place on Tuesday, February 3rd, and Tuesday, March 3rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
This year's memorable theme is the Wild Wild WEST, and it ain't just any ol' hootenanny —it's the biggest gold-rush fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County.
This high-spirited jamboree teams up hometown eateries across town with our own band of "Celebrity Outlaw Waiters," local legends bold enough to trade their spurs for aprons.
These fine folks ride the dining floor, servin' with charm and grit, and every last dollar tossed their way in tips goes straight to BBBS of SJC, helpin' us reach more kids who could use a steady hand and a fair shot so them young'uns can blaze a brighter trail!
Sign up today and see the complete list of eateries and Celebrity Outlaw Waiters at www.bbbsstjohns.org/tips-for-kids-sake.html. Can't make it? You can still contribute by leaving a tip on our website.
EPIC Behavioral Healthcare is proud to be the sponsoring agency of Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County.

Our mission is to strengthen our community by providing person-centered care to individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health disorders, and other behaviors through a comprehensive system of Education, Prevention, Intervention, and Counseling.
Our vision is to be the primary leader of quality, comprehensive behavioral healthcare in our community.
EPIC Behavioral Healthcare (EPIC) believes that recovery from addiction, substance use disorders and mental health disorders is real. People can, and do, overcome the internal and external challenges, barriers, and obstacles that confront them. EPIC agrees that addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. EPIC also recognizes that many individuals served by our agency are challenged by a mental health disorder. While treatable, EPIC believes that substance use and mental health disorders impact all areas of an individual’s life, including all of their relationships, vocational/education goals and skills, emotional well-being and their physical health. For both substance use and mental disorders, our commitment is to provide effective, affordable, evidence-based, culturally-sensitive and comprehensive care to impacted individuals and families.
EPIC has historically incorporated the idea of, “wellness,” into our programs. This allows EPIC to have the best outcomes for our clients. EPIC focuses on formalizing its commitment to overall wellness for our clients using SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) 8 Dimensions of Wellness as a guideline.
EPIC pledges to provide quality services and care to our community’s most vulnerable citizens. We will work to improve understanding in our community about mental and substance use disorders. We will promote emotional health and the prevention of addiction/substance use and mental disorders and will increase access to effective treatment and wellness programs while supporting recovery.
EPIC promises that children, adolescents, families, adults and seniors will find the support and help needed through our continuum of care to improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential while on the path to recovery from addiction/substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
Our philosophy is person-centered which means we put you at the center of your treatment and respect your freedom to make your own choices and choose your own direction.
