Nick has been handling our social media since 2021, so if you follow us, you’ve seen his work! He just launched his own small business, Mindful Media 🎉

He puts a lot of care into what we share and has been very consistent over the years.

He’s doing a small giveaway to celebrate, so we wanted to share it! Not a bad excuse for a free beanie!

April showers bring…free beanies?!

To celebrate the launch of the Mindful Media website, and all the support these have already received, I’m giving away 15 beanies, free of charge!

No one really tells you how strange it can be to build something from scratch. To take an idea that didn’t exist and slowly turn it into something real. Something people can actually see, hold, and be a part of.

I’ve found myself trying to get things right for other people while still figuring parts of it out as I go. Some days it clicks. Other days it doesn’t, but I keep showing up anyway.

And then every once in a while, people show up for you.

And you feel it.

So this felt like a small way to say thank you 🥰

If you want one, here’s how to enter:

1️⃣ Follow Mindful Media
2️⃣ Like this post
3️⃣ Comment someone you appreciate!

I’ll pick 15 people later this week and reach out via DM!

If you want to check out the site, click “See Details” below or visit: mindfulmediastories.com

And if you don’t feel like waiting, I’ve still got a few left for $5! Just send me a message, and I’ll set one aside for you 😊

I appreciate you being here 🤍

Swimming is one of the most effective low-impact exercises you can do, and one of the few that strengthens your body without adding extra stress!

Because water supports about 80–90% of your body weight, your joints get a break while your muscles and heart still get to work. You’re building strength, improving endurance, and moving more freely at the same time.

It also supports circulation in a unique way. The natural pressure from the water helps move blood back to the heart more efficiently, supporting cardiovascular health over time.

Regular swimming has been linked to:
• Lower blood pressure
• Improved cholesterol levels
• Increased lung capacity
• Reduced joint pain and stiffness
• Improved mood and lower stress

Some studies have even shown that people who swim regularly have a lower risk of early mortality compared to those who are inactive.

For anyone recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or just looking for a sustainable way to stay active, this is one of the best ways to move!

And for a lot of people, it’s one of the few workouts that leaves you feeling better than when you started.

Allergies weighing you down this spring? 🤧

With the temperatures having been all over the place lately, it’s no surprise if you’ve been dealing with more congestion, sinus pressure, or even headaches this week. A lot of people have been feeling it.

When your spine and nervous system are properly aligned, your body is better able to adjust to those changes and respond to allergens. Chiropractic care focuses on supporting how your body functions overall, so you’re not just chasing temporary relief but actually giving your body what it needs to feel and function better.

In some cases, we may also recommend supportive therapies like massage or nutritional guidance to help your body reset and feel its best.

If you’ve been feeling a little off lately, you’re not alone. We’re here to help you breathe easier and get back to your day feeling more like yourself.

Stop in for your complimentary consultation. We’re open until 7 today!

Seasonal weather shifts can affect more than the forecast…many people notice increased sinus pressure, headaches, or occasional dizziness when temperatures and barometric pressure change quickly. These shifts can irritate the sinuses and inner ear, and nearby muscles in the face, neck, and shoulders can tighten too.

With the weather moving back and forth this week, it’s common to feel pressure behind the eyes or across the forehead!

Simple things like staying well hydrated, gentle movement, and keeping the neck and upper spine mobile can help the body adapt more comfortably during these transitions.

If you have been noticing symptoms like these lately, feel free to mention it at your next visit!

For anyone new to Total Body Health Center, consultations are always complimentary, and we are happy to help you better understand what your body may be experiencing.

Stress doesn’t just affect how we think. It affects how the body functions too.

You may feel constantly “on.” Even when the day is over, the body can still feel tense, alert, or unable to fully relax.

Between work, constant notifications, and the pace of everyday life, the nervous system can spend more time in a stress response than it was designed to.

Add losing an hour of sleep from Daylight Savings today, and it’s no surprise many people are feeling a little more tired and overstimulated than usual!

Over time the body can stay in “fight-or-flight” mode. Hormones like cortisol and adrenaline remain elevated. These hormones help us respond to danger, but when they stay high for too long they can begin to wear the body down.

That stress often shows up physically. Tight muscles in the neck and shoulders, headaches, poor sleep, fatigue, digestive issues, and brain fog are all common signs the body has been under ongoing tension.

Helping the body come out of that stress response is often the first step toward feeling better. Gentle movement, stretching, massage therapy, and chiropractic care can help release built-up tension and give the body a chance to relax and recover.

If your brain has been feeling like this image lately, you’re definitely not the only one!

Ever catch yourself humming without thinking? There is a reason for that!

When you hum, your exhale naturally gets longer. As breathing slows, muscle tension often decreases. You may notice your jaw relax or your shoulders drop.

That shift is not random! The vibration stimulates the vagus nerve, activating the parasympathetic response. That system slows the heart rate and helps regulate stress. Studies show humming can improve heart rate variability, which reflects nervous system balance.

Humming also increases nitric oxide in the nasal passages, helping open the airways and support oxygen delivery. Research shows levels rise compared to quiet breathing.

If the end of the day feels heavy, try it before you head into your next thing. Inhale through your nose and hum slowly as you breathe out.

Give it a try this afternoon! 💛
It takes less than a minute!

Feeling overwhelmed this week? Before you power through it, try something simple. Laugh!

It may sound small, but laughter is one of the quickest ways to help your body calm down and reset.

When you laugh:

✔ Tight muscles begin to relax
✔ Blood flow improves, supporting heart health
✔ Endorphins release and your mood lifts

At Total Body, we focus on alignment and whole-body wellness, but sometimes feeling better does not start with an adjustment or a workout.

Sometimes it starts with one good laugh.

It’s free. And it works!

Feeling more drained than usual lately? Winter can quietly affect your energy and mindset, but the right foods can make a difference!

Try adding a few of these into your routine:

🥚 Eggs
Support mood and focus with high-quality protein and B vitamins.

🍊 Oranges & bell peppers
Vitamin C helps support immunity and the body’s response to stress.

🍠 Sweet potatoes
Slow-digesting carbohydrates that provide steady energy without the crash.

🍵 Green tea
Naturally supports calm focus.

🐟 Salmon
Omega-3 fats that support brain health and help reduce inflammation.

🍎 Apples & pears
Fiber and antioxidants that support balanced energy throughout the day.

Small, intentional food choices can go a long way in supporting how you feel. If you’ve been feeling a little off lately, start here!

Sprains, strains, and hard landings do more than hurt in the moment. Injuries often cause the body to compensate, placing added stress on the spine, joints, and surrounding muscles if movement is not restored correctly.

Helping the body move the way it should again supports:

✔ Reduced inflammation & muscle tightness
✔ Improved circulation & tissue healing
✔ Better balance, coordination, and performance

At Total Body, sports injury care takes the whole picture into account, so minor injuries do not turn into chronic problems!

Whether you are training, staying active, or recovering from an injury, paying attention early matters.

Sometimes the most brilliant move is simply getting checked out!

Many people begin the year with nutrition or weight goals that feel clear and motivating, then become harder to maintain as the weeks go on.

That experience is extremely common!

Research on behavior change shows that most health-related resolutions fade early on, especially when plans rely on restriction or motivation rather than supporting how the body actually functions.

When the body feels under-fueled or stressed, it adapts. Hunger cues shift. Energy dips. Staying consistent becomes harder, even with honest effort.

This is not a willpower issue.
It is a biological response.

At Total Body, nutritional counseling and weight loss care focus on education, structure, and one-on-one guidance that support the body rather than push it.

Here’s what supports consistency:
• Meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fats
• Hunger that feels steady, not urgent
• Energy that lasts between meals

Structure first. Support the body. Results follow over time.

A lot of what shapes how we eat happens before the first bite! Research in nutrition and behavioral science shows that our eating environment can influence appetite and portion perception. Plate color is one example. Blue tends to be less visually stimulating because it’s uncommon in natural foods, which may make portions feel more satisfying with less visual pull.

It’s a subtle effect...but subtle things matter!

That’s one reason some restaurants use blue plates to gently encourage smaller portions, without changing what’s actually being served.

Research also consistently shows that slowing down while eating helps improve awareness of hunger and fullness cues, supporting more mindful portions over time.

At Total Body, we focus on simple, realistic habits that support mindful eating, not restriction or extremes.

If nothing else, think of this as a reminder that small environmental shifts can support better awareness at meals.

🔹 Blue plates
🔹 Slower eating
🔹 Protein + fiber for fullness

No pressure. Just tools you can use if and when they’re helpful!

Around this time of year, it’s common to feel a little more tired than expected, even when you’re taking good care of yourself.

Energy can dip. Focus may come and go. Sleep might not feel quite as refreshing as it did not long ago. It’s not usually one big thing, just a quiet sense that everything takes a bit more effort.

When that happens, it’s natural to start paying closer attention to what might help the body feel steadier. That’s often when conversations about adaptogens start to surface. Adaptogens are herbs, roots, and mushrooms that have been used for centuries in traditional medicine and are studied today for their potential to help the body respond to stress and support balance. Rather than acting as stimulants or sedatives, they’re often described as supportive.

It’s important to know that adaptogens aren’t a cure-all, and research is still evolving. They’re considered dietary supplements, which means they aren’t regulated in the same way as medications. Because of that, it’s wise to talk with a healthcare provider before trying something new, especially if you take medications or manage ongoing health concerns.

Sometimes, the most helpful place to start is simply noticing what your body needs right now. 💛
