Friday Feature | Monica Schaberg, MA, LPC
This week, we’re proud to highlight Ms. Monica Schaberg, a Licensed Professional Counselor whose heart for children, teens, and families shines through in everything she does.
Monica brings over a decade of diverse clinical experience — from residential programs and therapeutic day schools, to working with children with special needs, to serving in the mental health department at the Kane County Jail. Her background gives her a unique, compassionate perspective and a deep understanding of the many challenges young people face today.
Using a person-centered approach, Monica integrates play therapy, CBT, DBT, and family systems therapy. Her philosophy is simple and powerful: every child is different, and it’s worth taking the time to build trust, connection, and comfort before diving into the deeper work. She loves weaving children’s interests into sessions to help them feel safe, seen, and supported.
When she’s not in session, Monica enjoys time with her husband and son — plus their lively “zoo” of a dog, three cats, and two guinea pigs. She loves painting, reading, raising butterflies in the spring and summer, and playing video games with her son.
We’re grateful to have Monica on our team and even more grateful for the care she brings to every young client she supports. 💛
