Hello and Welcome to this page! Gareth was born with a rare genetic condition called SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). This comes from a mutation of the RAG-2 gene. The treatment for this disease is a Bone Marrow transplant. His sister Emelia is a 10/10 match to be a donor. He is currently being treated at Arnold Palmer hospital in Orlando, Florida.
Many people have been following us since the beginning on Caring Bridge. I will continue to post daily updates there and here.
His name was chosen before we knew all of this. His name means Gentle and Strong.
