Most People Don’t Think About Liver Health Until They Have A Problem.
Many of us think that if we don’t drink too much, our livers are probably doing well. And while alcohol can definitely harm our liver, there’s more to it than just that. Our livers perform over 500 important jobs in our bodies. Some things can hurt our livers, like eating too much sugar or fat and not getting enough exercise, making Liver Health vitally important!
But guess what? Eating certain vegetables can actually help keep our livers healthy!
Veggie #1: Broccoli. Broccoli helps our livers get rid of toxins in our bodies. Similar benefits are associated cruciferous vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower.
Veggie #2: Beets. Beets help reduce oxidative stress in the liver, which can help it heal.
Veggie #3: Artichokes. Artichokes are known to be one of the best foods for liver health as a powerful antioxidant specifically for the liver.

Diabetics can enjoy a variety of delicious and satisfying desserts by focusing on options that are lower in sugar and higher in fiber, healthy fats, and protein. Fresh fruit, especially berries, is a great choice, as are desserts made with nuts, yogurt, and even avocado. By preparing desserts at home, you can control the ingredients and portion sizes.

Here's an example of a Healthy Diabetic Friendly Delicious Dessert:
Fruit-Based Desserts: Grilled peaches with nuts and yogurt: Grilling enhances the sweetness of the peaches, and adding nuts and yogurt provides protein and healthy fats.

Tips for Making Diabetes-Friendly Desserts:
Control portion sizes
Use natural sweeteners
Add healthy fats and protein
Look for recipes online
Consult with a doctor or registered dietitian: They can help you create a personalized meal plan that includes healthy desserts.

Your back is your lifeline, literally, so it’s crucial to keep it in top shape. And guess what? Many adults experience back pain at some point in their lives, so it’s worth knowing the best sleep positions for your back pain.
Experts agree on the best and worst sleeping positions. The best options are sleeping on your side or back. On the other hand, stomach sleeping is generally discouraged because it’s not the most supportive position for your back. So, try to avoid falling asleep that way if you can.
When your face down on your stomach, your spine is forced into an unnatural curve which causes an arch in your back, which can create a strain in your lower back. This results in pressure on your cervical spine and neck stiffness.

International Red Shoe Day was founded in memory of Australian Lyme disease patient Theda Myint, who passed away from the disease in 2013. Lyme disease is one of several ‘invisible’ illnesses, so called because individuals do not show clear indicators of sickness even after being diagnosed. Serious cases can result in patients being confined to their beds and houses for lengthy periods, rendering them ‘invisible’ to the outside world. Have questions about Lyme disease? Ask our pharmacist!
