The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common virus that can cause cancers later in life. About 13 million people, including teens, become infected with HPV each year. You can protect your child from these cancers with HPV vaccine. The vaccine provides safe, effective, and long-lasting protection against cancers caused by HPV. The HPV vaccination has been recommended since 2011 by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for both boys and girls. For more information and to make an appointment, contact the Cheyenne County Health Department at 785-332-2381.

• An adjuvant is an ingredient used in some vaccines that helps create a stronger immune response in people receiving the vaccine. In other words, adjuvants help vaccines work better.
• Adjuvants help the body to produce an immune response strong enough to protect the person from the disease he or she is being vaccinated against.
• Adjuvants have been used safely in vaccines for decades.
