• About Me:
Hi, my name is Dakota Callahan and I am a Clinical Therapist. I have a passion for helping others and truly receive joy and happiness in the successes and accomplishments of others. Because of this, I decided to pursue a career in therapy.
I earned a Bachelors degree from Utah State University, while participating in their Advanced Standing Social Work program. Afterwards I went on to earn my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada Reno, with an emphasis in mental health.
I have worked in the social services and mental health field for many years. During this time I have worked in a variety of treatment settings and with a variety of different populations, including: youth wilderness, residential treatment programs, adult inpatient drug rehabilitation, drug court, and working with those who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. These experiences have helped me develop skills, in psychotherapy, that are needed to treat various mental health disorders and more importantly has enriched my love for people regardless of their nationality, race, or religious background.
In my free time, I enjoy working in my family’s cabinet shop, building furniture, hiking, riding ATVs, and spending time with my wife and dog.
• My Values:
Knowing your therapist's values is important. It allows you to get to know the heart of your clinician and understand their focus, goals, and therapeutic path.
As a therapist, I strive to be professional. I am genuinely motivated and have a desire to help others. I value all people, no matter who they are. I believe in respect and treat everyone with the respect they deserve. I strive for, and teach independence to my clients. Together we work on coping skills and treatment needed to be free of medication and long term therapy. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental, comfortable atmosphere where we can sit together and participate in a treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs.
