I want to introduce you to Pyper Bost! (on Instagram as ). I came across her story on Instagram a few weeks ago when I noticed her using our crutches to learn to walk again!
She has shared a condensed version of her story below. She is an inspiration to all of us to keep fighting and leaning on your loved ones (and your super cool in-motion forearm crutches đ) to get you through tough times...NO MATTER WHAT!
"This is my storyâŚ
My name is Pyper Bost, and in July 2024, my life changed in the blink of an eye.
I was in a side-by-side accident that rolled 50â60 feet down an embankment. I was life-flighted and admitted to the hospital as a level-1 trauma.
I had fractured my spine in eight places, broken six ribs, and sustained a spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed from the chest down (T4 paraplegic).
I underwent spinal fusion surgery where three rods and thirteen screws were inserted.
I spent one month in the ICU, during which I was bronched six times, intubated, placed on ECMO, and trached. I had to relearn how to eat, drink, talk, and breathe on my own.
By the grace of God, my injury is incomplete, meaning I still have the ability to walk again.
Every day, I fight to rebuild my strength and independence. I spend my days strength training at the gym, walking with my KAFO leg braces and arm crutches, and continuously learning how to navigate this new way of life.
I truly believe thereâs a bigger reason why this happened to me.
My goal is for my story to reach as many people as possible, to educate, encourage, inspire, and motivate others to keep fighting and to live each day to the fullest, because life is so precious and can change in a second."
Be kind.
Be generous.
Always pay it forward.
