This is our weekly reminder that we are hiring!

Do you know someone getting ready to graduate massage school? Do you know someone that recently graduated but hasn't been able to take their test? This is a great referral for Miranda to mentor! Did you know?

There is a such thing as a massage championship! They are somewhat newer and there is a lot of controversy here. Let me explain a little bit about what I know, and why I enjoy them!

There are so many different massage techniques! So how can there be a championship competition!? This is what makes it fun! Every massage therapist views massage differently, and each technique works on something different. Most championships have categories that therapist will enter into. Some of the most common are:
Swedish
Freestyle
Sports
Chair

Each category has rules and guidelines as well. With me being a "deep tissue" therapist, my techniques are very different than swedish therapists. I use my forearms, elbows and stretches in my everyday massage. I was taught most techniques to classify in different categories, I just don't practice them.

When I competed in Utah, I registered into sports and chair. As most of you know, I have been to many events with my massage chair. I felt most comfortable in these categories. However, I had no idea what to expect! So I stuck to the basics.

We have judges, with clipboards, and pens, and score sheets for each therapist. They watch to see how connected we are with our clients, how innovative we are with techniques and tools, they watch our posture and they watch our flow (I've never seen their sheets, but I think I covered most of their judging criteria). Sometimes, they'll even ask our client what their rating was of us. Mind you, our client is not just our best friend, spouse, or client that we bring. They are actually a therapist we are "competing" against, so they are pretty critical.

The best part though, is the networking! We get to meet other therapists and learn what works and doesn't work for some, we get feedback on our techniques, and usually we walk away learning SO MUCH! Those that have been on my table this year, have felt the difference!

All in all, massage championships are a thing, and I encourage every massage therapist to attend at least one just to learn as much as I did. We will encourage you to keep growing and learning and be the best therapist you can be for not only the championships, but for yourself and your clients!

Hi! I'm Yuki! I am a new massage therapist working at Miracle Massage! Miranda wanted me to introduce myself and explain what my massage style is.

I'm Yuki, a single mom from Japan. I have been doing massage for many years now. I started in Japan with very little training as the laws are different there. I provided a relaxing style massage for my clients and had many clients request my massage.

After getting married, I moved to Alaska, and had my beautiful son. He is the light of my life! I stopped massaging for a bit and moved to Utah. In Utah, I was encouraged to get my massage license and practice massage again! I went to Zion Massage College and got my license. I still enjoy providing a Japanese style massage with energy work incorporated.

As you know, I have been working towards expanding and hiring more therapists! My newest therapist is Yuki, and I'm so excited she has joined my team!

Meet Yuki! She is such a sweet therapist! She went to school at Zion Massage College in St George, but actually learned massage in Japan. She uses her knowledge to provide an eastern style massage with energy work. And loves helping relax people. She is available on Tuesdays and her earliest appointment is 9 am!
