Dixie Eye Care was very happy to participate in two great community events this fall - the Elk's Lodge annual Eye Fair in October, and the Friends for Sight Sightfest in November. We love helping out in the community. This article about the Sightfest highlights our friend Dr Steve Blake from Little Valley Eyecare who was also there with us.

All the children invited had been identified by school nurses as having vision problems, but lacked the financial means to address them.

Excessive eye rubbing is linked to a condition called keratoconus, which can lead to decreased vision and the need for a corneal transplant, among other things.

Last year at Dixie Eye Care, we fit over 80 patients in specialty hard contact lenses for keratoconus and other eye disorders.

Advanced imaging allows us to detect early signs of keratoconus and monitor for progression.

Keratoconus most commonly shows up in teenagers and those in their early 20's, and is very treatable if it is caught early enough.
