⚠️ Gas Leak Notice

If you smell gas near FM 1518 & Abbott Rd, it’s due to a contractor hitting a gas line. There is no immediate danger. The gas company is on site and handling the situation. You may notice the odor through the evening while repairs are completed.

As we move into the night, temperatures are dropping and freezing rain is beginning to affect our district. Please stay off the roads if possible and keep space heaters away from anything flammable inside your home.

Bexar County ESD 12 is ready to respond when calls come in; however, hazardous conditions may result in extended response times. Please take precautions and stay safe.

🚨🚩 RED FLAG WARNING – ESD 12 🚩🚨
A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 8 PM today. Extreme fire danger exists due to dry conditions and strong, gusty winds.

⚠️ Take Immediate Action:
• No outdoor burning of any kind
• Avoid activities that create sparks (welding, grinding, mowing dry grass)
• Secure trailer chains and dispose of ci******es properly
• Report smoke or fire immediately to 911

🔥 Fires can spread rapidly. Your actions matter.
Please help protect lives, property, and first responders.

**⚠️ Community Notice ⚠️**

There is currently a gas leak in the Avenida neighborhood off Freudenburg Road. The utility company is **on site and actively responding to resolve the issue.

Please be advised that there is a strong gas odor in the area. For your safety:

* Avoid the immediate area if possible
* Do not use open flames or spark-producing devices
* Follow any instructions from emergency or utility personnel

We will share updates as more information becomes available. Stay safe and please share to help notify others in the area.

From emergency medical responses to fire suppression and everything in between, the men and women of ESD No. 12 continue to show unwavering dedication, professionalism, and courage day in and day out. 💪🚑🚒

Firefighter Cody has truly put in the work. He’s shown a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and has become a solid part of the crew. His energy is always positive, and we’re proud to have him on the team. We’re excited to see what the future holds for him!

Firefighter Talamantes is a proud Bexar County ESD 12 legacy. From starting as a cadet with the East Central High School Fire Academy, to completing the fire academy, being hired on as a firefighter, and now finishing her first year—her journey is inspiring. She brings a smile wherever she goes, lights up every shift, and consistently demonstrates hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING & WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT 🚨

The National Weather Service has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29th, due to strong winds and low humidity. A Wind Advisory is also in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.

What This Means for Bexar County:

Fire danger is EXTREME. Any fire that starts could spread rapidly and be difficult to control.

Avoid outdoor burning or any activity that could cause sparks.

Secure loose items such as decorations, trash bins, or outdoor furniture that could blow away.

🎃 Trunk or Treat 2025! 👻

Our firefighters had a great time participating in last night’s Trunk or Treat event on October 23rd! 🚒✨ It was a fun evening meeting our community, handing out candy, and showing the kiddos around the fire trucks.

We’re grateful for everyone who stopped by to say hello — seeing all the creative costumes and smiling faces made our night! 🧡
