“So God Made a Farmer.”
… If you haven’t listened to Paul Harvey’s tribute to farmers, it’s worth your time.
~~~
Yesterday I took my Mom, and we stopped by the stand. While we were collecting produce to purchase, Farmer Aaron walked up and said: “Hi! It’s good to see you! Want to see a cool pepper I’m growing that’s used in Molé?”
Me: “YAH!” (Heck yah. If you know me, this is a yes, and amen situation.)
He proceeds to take us on an educational and tasty tour through his farm~~~ rows upon rows of green-leafed, and color-filled produce… basking in the sun, creating delicious and health-filled adventures for the mouths of those who get the opportunity to taste them.
We wander through the long row of rainbow-colored cherry tomatoes~~~ each bush offering a delightful-for-the-eyes display of color and size, matched with a tantalizing variety of flavors. Did you know there is a PINK cherry tomato? Go find them. We supped on all the colors. Taste buds exploding. 💥
Purple, red, green, yellow, orange peppers of varying sizes, shapes and heat gradients …
Aaron made our day. ☀️
He filled a tub of goodness for us, and we happily obliged.
As we’re going along, I’m thinking: I wish this were captured on video! His wealth of knowledge and expertise are invaluable. We saw experiments, plans for the future, tricks for water retention, tips for avoiding weeds, planning for long-term harvesting while saving the body … We need this. People need this. He does farm tours regularly with customers who show up at the farm stand, and that makes me happy.
This has been my experience with every farmer I’ve had the pleasure to meet/do business with here in Columbia County. They love what they do, and they love to share it. Generous people of their time, knowledge, produce and kindness.
….So When God Made a Farmer, He Made a Great Thing.
