✨In honor of Women's History Month ✨Meet Susie Walking Bear Yellowtail (Crow), known as the "Grandmother of American Indian Nurses." She fought for decades to end unethical sterilizations and ensure cultural competency in care. 🩺 First Crow nurse, advocate against non-consensual sterilization, and first Indigenous nurse in the ANA Hall of Fame.

Susie Walking Bear Yellowtail was the first registered nurse of Apsaalooke, or Crow, descent, and was one of the first native RNs in the whole U.S.

"Everything in life is connected." — Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord 🩺
Dr. Alvord was the first Navajo woman board-certified surgeon, and she changed the narrative on Western medicine by bringing traditional Navajo holistic healing into the operating room. 🦋 She reminded us that true healing goes beyond just "fixing" a patient—it’s about harmony.

In honor of Women's History month🌟 Meet Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte (Omaha), the first Indigenous woman to earn a medical degree in the US (1889)! 🩺✨ At 24, she was the only doctor for 1,200+ people, traveling by horseback to deliver care. She later opened a hospital without federal funding, advocating for all patients regardless of race.

Susan La Flesche Picotte became the first American Indian woman to graduate from medical school, and is notable for founding an independently funded hospital on the Omaha reservation in Nebraska.
