This is just a warning that millennials and younger generations may not have enough ego strength to handle the direct questions. Millennials can get upset with the questions of concern and love and blame the questioner for being “critical” and “judgemental.”
I remember being asked direct questions about my life and career in my 20s and 30s, knowing the questions were out of concern. I could also tell the difference between being criticized and judged or questioned about my choices. If I didn’t have the answers, I knew that was my issue, not the questioners. I also knew the difference between external and internal pressures.
Millennials and GenZ, Sometimes, a questioner, even out of concern, don’t need your answer. If you don't have an answer or want to answer, the best response is to redirect the conversation to something you are willing and ready to talk about. (setting healthy boundaries)
GenX and Boomers, It is good to be mindful during the holidays that the younger generations cannot handle direct questions. Millennials are struggling with mental health issues more than the silent generation (1929-1945) ever did. The silent generation grew up in the great depression and a world war.
