Kingdom Community Services Food Shelf, in St. Johnsbury, is seeking committed volunteers to join our dynamic team. The commitment would be 2-4 hours a week or once a month.

This food shelf is open to the public two days a week and serves about 20 families each day. We are located at 36 Steeple Place, just off Main St. near the United Community Church. The food shelf is supported by the community, local farms, grocery stores, and other businesses.

We have a variety of volunteers roles available, including:
-Meeting with customers and filling out intake forms
-Filling food orders
-Stocking shelves
-Breaking down bulk items
-Picking up donated food from various outlets
-Unloading food trucks
-Cleaning the facility
-Making small renovations and repairs

Whatever your interests or skills, we would love to discuss how you can contribute. There is a place for everyone on our team.

We are so grateful to the students at Good Shepherd School for their generosity and kindness:

🧦 The 3rd and 4th grade classes collected an incredible 930 pairs of socks through their winter sock drive. What an amazing contribution to our Food Shelf!

💵 The 5th and 6th grade classes made a meaningful financial donation, helping us continue to support those in need.

🥫 And to St. John’s Parish, thank you for your ongoing weekly food donations. Your consistent support makes a lasting difference.

Because of all of you, our neighbors are feeling the warmth, care, and compassion of this community. We couldn’t do this work without you!

KCS would like to recognize Ellie Dole for her 18 years of service to the Kingdom Community Services Food Shelf.

Ellie has served as a cornerstone of our organization, helping to coordinate the vital work of our 16+ dedicated volunteers. Her commitment has been instrumental in sustaining our meal sites and supporting families throughout the Northeast Kingdom for nearly two decades.
We are grateful for the time, energy, and leadership Ellie has contributed to KCS, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

🗣️🗣️ Organizations physically impacted by the July ‘23 floods: this is a grant opening that you NEED to know about! ➡️➡️

The Department of Economic Development has created the Business Emergency Gap Assistance Program (BEGAP). This $20 million grant program is for businesses and nonprofits that suffered physical damages from flooding dating back to July 7, 2023. Applicants must intend on restoring, reopening, and bringing their employees back to work as soon as possible and will utilize these grant funds for that purpose.

Incomplete applications will be returned to applicants for revision and will take more time to process. Applications will be approved on a rolling basis until all funds are expended. The application portal is expected to open on Thursday, August 3.

If you get 3SquaresVT benefits and lost your food due to the flooding you may be eligible for funds to replace it. You might also be eligible for these funds if the flood caused your power to be out for four, or more, hours. If you'd like help through the process, contact our friendly 3SquaresVT team by texting VFBCHAT to 61222.

Usually, the deadline to report loss of food to the Economic Services Division (ESD) is within 10 days of the incident, however, this deadline was extended, so now the last day to report food loss to ESD is August 9. You must report the loss of food to Economic Services (1-800-479-6151). They will ask you to fill out a form explaining the loss. You will have 10 days to complete the form found here: https://bit.ly/3Y8XLNx
