For more than a century, Stuber Health has been part of the heartbeat of St. Joseph.

Founded in 1913, Stuber Health was created with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves access to healthcare, regardless of income or circumstance. Through wars, economic hardship, medical advances, and generations of families, that belief has never wavered.
While medicine has evolved, our mission has remained the same, caring for our community with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Today, we’re proud to continue that legacy, serving patients where they are and meeting real needs with real care.

This isn’t just our history.
It’s St. Joseph’s.

Did you know Stuber Health Center has been part of St. Joseph’s health landscape for over 110 years? It began in 1913 as the Social Welfare Board, created by Dr. Daniel Morton to ensure quality medical care was available to people who couldn’t otherwise afford it. From the very beginning, local doctors, volunteers, and nurses stepped up to care for our neighbors living in poverty, long before community clinics were commonplace.

In June 2024, the clinic was renamed Stuber Health Center in honor of Dr. Robert Stuber, who dedicated over 20,000 volunteer hours to serving the underserved in our community.

Today, Stuber Health continues that legacy as one of the oldest free and charitable clinics in the nation. It’s a trusted safety-net provider offering medical, dental, reproductive, and specialty healthcare to residents of St. Joseph and Buchanan County, regardless of income or insurance status.

More than a clinic, Stuber Health is a cornerstone of care, compassion, and connection for families across our community. 💙
