Stuber Health Center

Stuber Health Center Stuber Health Center is a non-profit organization providing health care to the underserved in St Joseph, MO and Buchanan County. Joseph, Buchanan Co, MO area.

The Friends of the Free Clinic is a group which helps raise funding and awareness for the clinic. In 1913, Daniel Morton, MD came to the St. As a physician, he was concerned about the medical treatment of the poor. Through many efforts Dr. Morton worked to develop Missouri State Statute, RSMO 205.770, that allowed county governments to create a 'Social Welfare Board of (name of county)'. The idea was to form an alliance between city and county governments to support free medical care to those less fortunate in the community. Additionally, local doctors, hospitals, and nurses would volunteer their time at the clinic to administer healthcare to the patients of the clinic. The Social Welfare Board continues Dr. Morton's vision and passion to provide high-quality healthcare to the residents of the City of St. Joseph and Buchanan County, MO. We have many partners who help us in our efforts. We are grateful for the continued support we receive in our community!

Over 100 years ago, Stuber Health opened its doors to serve those who had nowhere else to turn.

Since then, we’ve grown, adapted, and modernized — but the heart of Stuber Health has never changed.

We are still here for the families who need affordable care. We are still here for the patients seeking compassion, understanding, and support.

Every exam room, every provider, every visit is built on generations of trust. And we’re honored to carry that responsibility forward — today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Stuber Health has always been supported by the community it serves.

Donations help bridge the gap for patients who may be uninsured, underinsured, or facing financial hardship. They allow us to continue offering essential medical, dental, and reproductive health services to those who might otherwise go without.

Because of donors, care continues.

Because of donors, lives are changed.

Because of donors, our mission lives on.

Stuber Health’s story is one of service, resilience, and community.

For over a century, our organization has stood as a reminder that healthcare is not a privilege, it’s a necessity. Long before modern clinics and technology, Stuber Health was caring for neighbors, supporting families, and putting people first.

That legacy lives on in every patient we serve today.

For more than a century, Stuber Health has been part of the heartbeat of St. Joseph.

Founded in 1913, Stuber Health was created with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves access to healthcare, regardless of income or circumstance. Through wars, economic hardship, medical advances, and generations of families, that belief has never wavered.
While medicine has evolved, our mission has remained the same, caring for our community with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Today, we’re proud to continue that legacy, serving patients where they are and meeting real needs with real care.

This isn’t just our history.
It’s St. Joseph’s.
