We are a holistic wellness center embracing everyone: People of all sizes and body types, all races, colors, religions, genders, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, national origins, genetics, abilities, and veteran status. My Philosophy
My approach to body brain balance is a holistic confluence of Eastern and Western practices, embodying the philosophy that self-care is healthcare. The Western therapeutic healing methods treat acute and chronic issues, while the Eastern healing methods work for healthcare maintenance, and injury and illness prevention. Here are some modalities I offer:

NeuroSculpting® Therapeutic Massage, Positional Therapy, Reiki and Energy Work, Pranayama Breath Work, Meditation, Yoga, Personal Training, Wellness Coaching. As your practitioner, I am committed to finding the balance of modalities that’s right for you, in order to create an individual practice you can maintain and enjoy. By working together regularly we can create space and connection in the body, mind and spirit, inviting more breath to circulate, and more energy to flow. The more energy and space and connection we have in our bodies and minds, the better we can perform our jobs, and the more we can offer our families and communities. We are able to live more vibrant lives when our bodies and minds are functioning at their full potential. In each session we integrate the 5-step Neurosculpting meditation entrainment process along with:

This combination is incredibly powerful for regulating the nervous system.

We build strength and flexibility.

We slacken what’s overworked.

And here’s the magic part —
In this room, we safely explore our personal edges.

We gently move past what we think our limit is…
…discover a new personal edge…
…and then realize there is always more available.
Not by force.
Not by ego.
But because when we are regulated and supported, we are capable of going farther than we thought.

Each week, I guide the room a little farther.
Past the old edge.
Into the new edge.

And then beyond that one too.

Meet my yoga teacher, Nalini—the reason I became a yoga teacher twenty one years ago.

I met her in 2002 while finishing my 16 months associates degree at the Swedish Institute of massage therapy and other Allied sciences.

I had just moved to NYC for a year with AmeriCorps at Habitat for humanity from 2001 to 2002.

Massage school by day and yoga whenever I could.

Integral Yoga Institute, right down the street, quickly became a second home—and her class changed everything.

Yoga became essential for me, a way to stay connected to my body intelligently, sustainably, and alive.

Nalini didn’t just teach poses—she taught principles, curiosity, creativity, and how to work from the foundation without ever going on autopilot.

She became my mentor, teacher, and friend.

Along with her large weekly classes, a few of us would go to her apartment in Queens for unconventional practices that couldn’t happen in a studio.

Over time, it became just the two of us—a private practice two to three times a week, always including tea to reflect and integrate—for just about 2 decades.

I completed massage school in 2003, and became a licensed massage therapist and then became a registered yoga teacher in 2005, and a certified personal trainer in 2007, and then completed the IM healing art school in 2009— and then followed by multiple certifications, courses, trainings, and continuing education programs.

However, my real education came from Nalini: hands-on mentorship, shared practice, and years of trust.

We’ve kept in touch. She recently told me the Integral Yoga health food store closed around COVID, and Integral Yoga itself may be sold. That space was central to my discovery of yoga as a way of life—Integral Yoga was another pillar of that time—not just for me, but for the city.

It was a true community hub.

You could eat lunch there alongside students, staff, volunteers and the monks who lived and worked there.

You could clean the kitchen and receive class passes in exchange.

It was accessible, resource-based, and deeply rooted in the idea of yoga as service.

For years, I practiced Karma Yoga there, even while completing my first teacher training certification. Integral Yoga shaped my understanding of yoga not as a commodity, but as a way of life woven into community.

The Integral Yoga® Institute of New York was a pillar in the city, founded on October 7, 1966, by Sri Swami Satchidananda.

Its potential loss is shocking, though I hope it continues under like-minded values.

This photo takes me straight back. That day, we did something completely different—we class-hopped, taking multiple classes in one Sunday. I had never done that before, and haven’t since. What made it meaningful was practicing side-by-side as students—different from workshops and trainings we’d done together studying with John friend over the years.

In this picture in 2019 is after 17 years of knowing each other, that day I realized I’d rarely practiced next to her in a regular class.

Nalini was always teaching, guiding, leading. That day, I simply got to practice with her, debrief, and enjoy being a student with my teacher. Wow. I had arrived….

Nalini coined the phrase “no dead fish” in to regards to your feet (stay engaged)—who says that in mainstream yoga? No one except her. She’s a master of many crafts: yoga teacher, acupuncturist, massage therapist, dancer, and teacher at Tri-State Acupuncture School. (which has since closed ) She’s lived in Astoria, Queens since the 1970s in a rent-stabilized apartment, had a yurt in New Paltz NY for summer and winter practice until a fire destroyed it, and rebuilt. She’s still going.

We used to go up there during the summers for a weekend here and they are to practice out of the city.

Nalini is also the one who inspired my love for the New Year tradition of 108 Sun Salutations. We practiced them together every year—We began in the large main room  at Integral Yoga Institute, and then as the years went on, there was less turnout so it didn’t end up happening in the main room anymore. A smaller group of us would go to her apartment and we would all practice the 108 Sun salutations either New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day! 

What I know for sure: the way I move, the way I teach, the way I think about yoga-it all came from her!

With Nalini, time collapses. We always pick up exactly where we left off!

What a complete and total gift it was today to take 3 yoga classes in a row, side by side with my yoga teacher, my mentor, my dear, dear friend and family Nalini!

Nalini who inspired me to become a yoga teacher 15 years ago!

Two three level class into a two  level class into a restorative class including some tea time re connecting time together!

I can honestly say I have never taken three yoga classes in one day before!

I have taken intensive day long yoga trainings that are longer then the three classes but never three different classes in one day!

What a treat!

And practicing next to my yoga teacher definitely upped my vibration for me to be in my best practice as I possibly could be in!

Wow , I am in bliss and full of gratitude!

This is definitely the best reason an A++++ reason to come into the city on a Sunday! Now back to Brooklyn I go with a body full of sensation, opened muscles, stacked alignment,
Structurally,
integrated, moving flowing lymph and blood flow and breath, organs with so much more space in them, a spirit full of love, gratitude and more gratitude, a mind full of peace and ease!

This is 2/3 of yesterday‘s class in action! 😹 I had a bit of a technical glitch where I accidentally videoed the whole class in real time 🤣 So, in my non-technology skills, I did my best to trim it down and figure out how to post it in a condensed version😹 I got up to 2/3 and I figured this is good enough to reflect the class and collective energy! 😂 🐺❤️❣️

Our Story

ARE WE A GOOD FIT? Seeing Through the Hands is not geared towards one "type" of client. Rather, I work with each individual and their body as a canvas, seeing what the experience of guided breath, supported movement, and intentional positioning will create. ​ My clients include people of all ages and abilities, from elderly to infants. I work people who have many different demands on their bodies, including athletes, pregnant women, performers, health practitioners, artists, people recovering from all types of injuries and surgeries, people with limited mobility, cancer patients, trauma survivors, people in hospice, as well as people with unique individual conditions. I believe Bodywork in the form of Massage, Positional Therapy, Yoga, Personal Training and Hula-Hooping has unique ways to give our mind, body, and spirit more room for movement and for strengthening our natural curves and alignment, more room for growth and releasing, more room for breath and awakening, and more room for pleasure. ​ If this sounds like something you would like to explore in your body, then I would be excited to work with you.
