We proudly presented awards to several incredible non-profits dedicated to improving health with a focus on health equity, diversity, and inclusiveness in our region. Through the Community Wellness Endowment, we awarded four grants totaling $85,800 to support projects that make a real difference in the lives of families across Southwest Michigan:

Community Healing Centers - Supporting Carol’s Hope, providing substance abuse counseling, treatment, and family support in Berrien County.

Hartford Public Library - Funding a Charlie Cart mobile kitchen to launch a food education program that helps families make healthy choices for life.

Lincoln Township Public Library – Supporting “Berrien County Books for Babies,” a literacy initiative promoting early reading and family bonding.

United Through Motherhood – Providing diapers and baby supplies to families experiencing diaper insufficiency in Berrien and Van Buren counties.

Together, these projects reflect our commitment to building healthier, stronger communities.

This season, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible generosity of our community. Thanks to the amazing support from The Eva Martin Project, South Bend International Airport and SERVPRO of Berrien County, MI, we’ve received stuffed animals, cozy blankets, toys and entertainment items that will bring joy and comfort to so many of our pediatric patients in the coming year.

Friendly reminder!🍇 Our free Mobile Food Pantry is TODAY, December 8, at our Benton Harbor Service Center, located at 499 West Main Street. Food distribution starts at 4:00 PM and remain open until all food has been distributed. No need to bring bags or boxes - just stay in your vehicle and we’ll load it up for you. 🙌 See you there!

A legacy of love made possible by our community.

We’re honored to share the story of Bruce and Marie Pethe — a powerful reminder of the heart of hospice care and the impact of your support. When both parents were diagnosed with terminal illnesses just months apart, the Pethe family faced unimaginable heartbreak.

But thanks to benevolent support from donors like you, Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care stepped in with expert, compassionate care — at no cost to the family. Bruce spent his final days at Hanson Hospice Center, surrounded by love and dignity. Later, Marie was cared for in her beloved “butterfly room,” where the family could simply be present and say goodbye with grace.

Your generosity made this possible. Benevolent care ensures that families across Southwest Michigan receive hospice and palliative support regardless of their ability to pay — turning moments of heartbreak into sacred time for love, connection, and peace.
