“It felt like I should have had a beer in my hand. Like I was just talking with a friend.”

I take this as the highest compliment ever!

This is the second time a guy has said this to me about therapy. Both these guys were hesitant to come because they thought it would be weird to talk about their “problems.”

Not with me! Just call me The People’s Therapist! 🤣

Couples Counseling and S*x Therapy

Prosper Therapy provides couples counseling and individual therapy with a focus on the relationships in your life. I specialize in working with people considering divorce and doing intensive couples sessions (2 hours or longer for big results). My belief is that when we have great relationships, our quality of life is better, and when our relationships are struggling, it impacts all areas of our life. It’s hard to have fun when you know your partner is mad at you. It can feel impossible to concentrate at work after having a big fight. Your own home can become uncomfortable when there is a steely silence hanging in the air. After a while, you might not even recognize the person sleeping next to you.

All of that is change-able with therapy. I coach my clients on learning how to reconnect, improve communication, see eye-to-eye, , stop fighting, and find the love again. My clients range from people who are on the brink of divorce to the happy couple just looking to enhance their relationship, and everyone else in between. Common issues I’ve treated are: communication issues, s*x problems (mismatched desire, low desire, etc.), conflict and anger, couples stuck in same old patterns, anxiety and stress, the impact of depression on a relationship, transitioning to parenthood/changes in a relationship after children, relationship recovery after addiction, division of household duties, and more.

Areas I specialize in are relationships, of course, but also men’s issues, s*x, couples in crisis, couples considering divorce, and discernment counseling. Discernment counseling is helping a couple that has one, or both partners, with one foot in and one foot out of the relationship. This is a structured process that offers guidance on deciding whether to continue or end the relationship. If this describes you, please reach out.

My style of therapy is unique in that it is direct and honest. I name what I see and point out patterns and opportunities for change, and then show my clients how to make those changes. It is effective in that it asks people to make changes and shows them how to change right away. It is empowering and positive. I also use a lot of humor which I’ve been told makes my clients feel really comfortable (especially those that were nervous or unsure about counseling).
