Su***de is a hard topic to talk about in our communities. There is so much stigma attached to it and people who go through it at times are labeled as ‘weak’ ‘lack faith’ or even ‘attention seekers.’

In reality su***de is a cry for help and an extreme state of hopelessness. A lot of times is a symptom that accompanies a mental illness.

Being compassionate is key when supporting a loved one with suicidal thoughts. Judgment and shaming don’t take these thoughts away but make the person not voice their feelings or seek a much needed help.

Take the lessons and move on. I had to personally learn this the hard way

After I saw how unproductive it was I had to remember that I have the now and that’s what I can control.
